Question about Cars & Trucks

I have a late 90s early 2000s eiger 4x4. It will pull start and run fine but the push button start doesnt work nor the neutral or temp light when I turn the key until I crank it. I have replaced the battery and fuses. Could it be the solenoid or something else?

SOURCE: 2003 Caravan No Crank, 3.3L

This is a bad PCM. Try to disconnect the security system first and if it still does not start then it is the PCM.

SOURCE: 95 F150 wont crank

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Good luck.

I have a 1996 chevy tahoe. after using 4x4 high to get out of a bad situation with extensive use of high rpm's in 4H, it will not shift out of 4H. the switch on the dash is not even blinking or making

Get underneath and check the linkage bar that goes from the shifter inside the cabin to the tranny underneath. Sometimes these bars, especially on GMC vehicles can come off or become stuck, if it does become stuck then you have to take it to a dealer because local mechanics unless they've dealt with it will only make the situation worse. i used to tow cars and trucks and this is a common issue with GMC from the 90s til mid-to late 2000s

How to put into 4x4 hi ?

If its a 4WD there is either a push button on the dash left side of steering colomn, its marked 4hi. If manual shifter in on floor center console. Pull back on lever to second notch marker 4hi. If you are in 4lo now and can't get out. first put tranny shifter in neutral while engine running, then shift transfer case into neutral (manual push forward), push button hold 4hi and 4lo at the same time til "N" green light comes on. Then shift either into 4hi.

I have a 93 ford explorer 4x4 automatic. The 4x4 doesn't engage, or does anything when the button is pushed. Is this something simple to fix? Thanks Duane

This will take two persons to do...with a light hammer or mallet, hit the 4x4 motor on the transfer case as another person is pushing the 4x4 high switch, while the vehicle is in neutral and the emergency brake on, AND FOOT ON THE BRAKE.BE CARFUL NOT TO RUN OVER YOUR HELPER!!!! If it starts to work, replace the 4x4 motor. The inside of the motor gets corrodid from water and dirt.

This seems to be a problem with many mid 90s to early 2000s Dodge and Chrysler products. The factory is armed for an unknown reason. Many times by rocking or otherwise moving the vehicle it will "come out" of that mode. The dealers and Chrysler seems to deny the existence, I have seen it on at least 3 different vans. When I attempted to meter the power flow, the factory starter kill circuit is activated. It's not a starter problem, its an anti-theft system problem.

99 intrepid hard to start and or cutts out, what is my solution

n most 90's and up Dodge/Chrysler vehicles, you can try to pull codes from the car's computer as long as you still have a charged battery. Put your key in the ignition, and turn it forward, but not far enough to engage the starter. Turn the key back to the Off position, then forward, back and forward again. In early 90s vehicles, the Check Engine light is going to flash a number of times. Often, code 55 means it is completed.
In mid and late 90s vehicles, you will often get a 4 digit code that may help you diagnose problems starting, mostly checking the eletrical, ignition and sensor systems.
