SOURCE: need help with oil pressure sending unit...maybe

You got it, Common for the plastic top where the wire leads connect to crack. This will cause the oil to leak and at worst, what you have indicated happening on your Blazer. Note; when installing the new sensor, do not use any Teflon tape on the threads. The sensor is tapered and works best to have a good ground, so just tighten it enough to keep the oil from leaking. Good luck friend and make sure you pick up the right oil sending unit sensor. One is for just a light to activate and the other is the one you need to be able to give you a oil pressure reading. Best to go at a Dealer for this part with your VIN number.

SOURCE: can't find where the oil pressure switch is

Hello goldwing0001: My name is Roger and I will be glad to help. GM moved the switch from down by the oil filter to the top of the engine. Look at the back of the bell housing right next to the distributor. You will find a long slender switch. This will be the switch for the fuel pump. See the attached picture. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. This way I know it helped. Thank You f or using Fix Ya. Roger228d3e7.jpg

Oil pressure drops to zero when engine starts then goes to 60,while driving after warm, pressure drops down 4.3 V6 vortec engine

The 4.3 engine should have 20 to 30 psi at idle cold and around 50 to 60 psi running down the road. Has this engine had regular oil changes? If not the problem could be sludge build up. The oil pressure sending unit could be the problem. If in question about the sending unit install a mechanical gauge and watch the pressure.

No. The engine will still start, however if the sending unit is not working you will have no oil pressure and you will damage the motor and possibly lock it up. This vehicle can run with the unit not working correctly

I have a 2003 gmc sierra 5.3 liter vortec why does my truck leak oil only under pressure

because your oil pressure rises to around 40psi when running and will leak at the weakest place, check your oil sending unit first and seals.

Look near the oil filter, there are wires connected somewhere around there, should be 2 or 3 wires, I believe. That's the oil pressure sending unit.
