SOURCE: 1997 sentra ignition locked

With the key in the ignition, tap on the key with something heavy like a pair of pliers, screwdriver etc. It will cause the pin inside the mechanism to drop, and the iginition will turn. Happened to me today, worked like a charm.

SOURCE: locked key ignition

had the same problem with a 99 dodge van. tow truck driver put the key into the ignition and tapped it a couple of times while turning the key to freed it up and start the engine. works as long as you leave the key in the ignition so i use a second key to lock/unlock the van. hope this works for you. gary

SOURCE: steering wheel locked, cannot turn key to start,

Try holding your steering wheel hard to the left as you try to turn the key. If this doesnt work try holding it to the right doing the same thing. Something happened to where the steering wheel lock engaged and that will prevent you from using the ignition key. Try this

I put my car in park, but cannot turn key all way to left and cannot remove key. Is WD40 ok to use there? Any solutions to solve this problem? I can't get key out. Help please

What year/make/model car is it? Where is the shifter located, basically? It may not be the tumbler. The lock itself may be due to the steering wheel. It happens sometimes. Is the steering wheel locked into position, or can you still turn it? If it is too locked, try to unlock the wheel, by taking shifter out of park and back in, then try turning the steering wheel until it unlocks. When it does, the key should turn. I can give a better answer if I knew what car we're working with.

2010 Nissan sentra ignition is locked. The steering wheel is not locked. Ive tried turning the wheels, jiggling it, wd40... What do you think?

Bad ignition tumbler/keyset. Something internal is jammed most likely. Or the linkage between the Automatic (assuming it's not a manual tranny) and the steering column isn't properly aligned. but that only prevents the key from going to the position for key removal. It would still rotate to the ACC and ON positions.

Ignition locked

keys & locks are subject to wear, especially if you have a large or heavy key-ring.do you have a spare key to try?the tip[pointy end] of the key is what releases the lock.have a new key made.if that doesn't work, call lock smiths for price to replace lock cylinder.

Nissan Sentra 2008 will not start

First try turning the steering wheel and jiggling the key simultaneously. If this doesn't work, your problem could be caused by the link between the ignition lock and the switch. Have your ignition switch and your key tumbler assembly replaced. It's an 08. It's under warranty !
