SOURCE: Knocking sound coming from around the oil pan.

This is a big sign that you might have a spun rod bearing if it's coming form your oil pan. Use a screwdriver and put the flat tip end on the oil pan and the plastic end near your ear like a stethascope and if you hear a knocking it's probaly a spun rod bearing or a bent or warped wrist pin on the bottom of your piston. So some good advice is to not run it anymore until you get it a mechanic to fix it. If you want to do it yourself you have a job ahead of you but refer to an Haynes Auto Repair Manual and you will have fun doing a job by yourself. I hoped this help!

Metallic knocking coming from from under hood when pulling away.

I'd guess that its related to the double gearbox removal. There are four engine/transmission mounts: one on the top side of the engine, one on the top of the transmission, and two on the center member. One or more might be loose or separating. The top engine mount is a common problem. Could also be loose sway bar mounts, or strut bolts on the uprights.

There is a knocking noise coming from the rear of my 94 chevy 1500 series truck it is knocking at the speed of the tires turning and is loudest at slow speeds, what is it?

Car wheels spin at different speeds, especially when turning. When making a turn the outside tire turns faster than the inside tire since to outside tire has a longer distance to travel in the same amount of time through the turn.

2005 trailblazer knocking sound front drivers side wheel when accelerating only

First check wheel bearing. Jack front end up lifting tires off ground and see if the wheel moves by pulling on the sidewall part of wheel from top and pushing bottom towards the car does this back and forth if there is play, wheel bearing could need replaced. Take tire off and check for loose brakes, loose calipers, loose dust shields , etc. everything except rotor should be tight.

I have a flapping/humming noise coming from the rear wheels of my 2004 golf 1

I know what you are talking about. If you stand on the side of the car and put one foot on the top/side of the tyre and you push into the car direction, the weel will go forward and back to you if it is weel bearings. The centre of the hub will also go very hot after a short drive. If it is not that, then it is your cv joints. I would go for inner cv joint by the side of the gearbox. My sons golf had same noise and it was the inner cv joints. It is luckely not so expensive. Be strong.

2006 Impreza sti- i get continuous knocking while in reverse

does it happen turning both directions? AND...does it happen turned the same angle in forward gears? Can you feel it in the pedals, floor, your seat or through the shifter? You may want to grab a helper and take them to a business/industrial area that has an empty parking lot and have them stand out side the vehilcle while duplicating the symptom. See if you can roughly locate where the sound is coming from. e.g. right front, left front. under center of vehicle. Your helper may need to walk or run near the vehicle while backing to be closer to the noise while it occurs.

Left rear wheel bearing

Hi

Quite easy !

Slacken your wheel nuts, Jack up the car, support on an axle stand, remove the wheel.

Knock off the little domed dust cap with a screwdriver.

Remove the split pin, and undo the nut.

The drum should now pull off if you remember to let off the hand brake !

Pull out the inner seal and the bearing race will fall out, also remove the outer bearing race.

Now you have to knock out the 2 bearing tracks from the drum hub.

Clean up the drum, carefully tap in the 2 new bearing tracks with a socket, and then grease the bearing races liberally with LM bearing grease.

Fit the bearing races to the drum, along with the new seal, and refit the drum, tighten the castle nut, then just back it off slightly, and fit new split pin, and then the dust cap.

Back on with the wheel, and give it a spin, and check for play by holding tyre, top and bottom.

Good Luck !

Let me know if you have any problems !

1994 Volkswagen MK1 golf knocking noise

Very simple.... I had this problem and it drove me Crazy.... your gearbox engine mount is gone. When you look at it it will look fine but when under load it moves. creating the knocking noise..

Use a crowbar (Very carefully) to move the engine to check.
