How to fix accelerator pedal malfunction 2005 expedition

Posted by on

1 Answer

Need the codes & more info to help you

The APP (gas pedal) is very redundant & not
likely a problem, nor is the throttle body

I would check for Ignition Coil Misfires

You change Spark Plugs every 3 years

By now ALL your COP Coils are done & need replacing

The 2005 had some problems with leaking injectors,so look
at fuel trim
The Front Oxygen Sensors should have been replaced at
100,000 miles

Not doing what I have stated, will ruin your exhaust converter

Check engine light sensor

DTC P2138: Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor A/B (Throttle Position Sensor D/E) Incorrect Voltage Correlation.

Accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor A and accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor B are potentiometers, and they are installed in the engine compartment.

The APP sensors A and B are operated via the throttle cable to determine the accelerator opening value when the driver presses the accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal opening value is converted to a signal in APP sensors A and B and transmitted to the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) to compute the target position. The target position signal is then transmitted to the throttle actuator control module.

APP sensor A is for the primary control, and APP sensor B is a back-up of APP sensor A in case it malfunctions. Both sensors compare their output voltage to each other for malfunction detection.

When the voltage difference of APP sensor B is out of a fixed range for a set period of time, the ECM/PCM detects a malfunction, and a DTC is stored.

Awkward gas pedal position 2005 ford expedition

No there is way to safely fix this without a kit that is approved for the job. I would contact someone who deals with disabled persons whom often need this kind of modification made to the pedals in the car.

The same thing happend to my 2005 ford expedition. My truck stopped and it would not respond. It stays on but the accelerator would not respond and the wrench symbol came up. I took it to the Dealer and...

the wrench symbol stands for the electronic throttle control. If you dont get this fixed it will keep happening. I know from experience with my 05 Expedition. Take it back to the dealer and let them know. I also recommend you call Ford directly @ 18003923673. I called them but they say enough people have to call and let them know of this problem in order for them to issue a recall. I had to pay to get this fixed and it cost me $750. Unfortunately you have to get this fixed because it will continue to happen.
