Ok You're getting spark. Next question to answer is are you getting fuel. Your car is 14 years old. And the ethanol content in gas has been found to play havoc with fuel pumps. Suggest, if you have access to stethoscope, either you or assistant turn key and the other listen with stethoscope back at gas filler hatch and listen for hum of fuel pump. Be aware this car may well have 2 fuel pumps, one high pressure (for start up) and low pressure (for running). Another suggestion is the ECM. But generally if it's electrical I've found that you'll ge the check engine light and a code.

If you don't have a code reader, do any of your friends/relatives have one? It would need to be an OBd-II. I don't know if you hae O'Reilly's auto parts stores in your area. Our local one will put a code reader on for free. We paid a couple hundred dollars for ours. But that was some years ago. The prices have really dropped. And they aren't that difficult to operate. Even though you have spark, it may not have enough "oomph" to ignitie against the pressure of the cylinder. I'd definiely get the Check engine light checked.

Security light on or flashing. A reset is, turn the key on for ten minutes, turn it off for thirty seconds, try to start. A relearn is three times this, then try to start. After that it needs scanned, after the codes are retrieved things need to be fixed or replaced. These have wiring issues and the ignition switch.

Spark may indicate there is current, however the intensity and spark plug gap are another thing. Plugs should be new. Gap as per specifications. Check wires for cracks and if original, they need to be replaced. Check the fuel. Check lines. Try either vapors to start engine.

The Chevrolet Dealer Mechanic replaced the spark plug wires on my 1994 Impala SS. Three weeks later the engine started to misfire. I took the car back to the dealership and asked them to replace the spark...

What kind help you need?
You already know the problem is. So just replace the burn one.
and make sure secure it. Do not let it loop to touch the exahust
you should be good to go.

(Dealer machanic is same as the other one. They only have better equipment and new information available)

2000 chevy tahoe z71 5.7 v-8 won't start. Turns over and fires but will not start. Check fuel pressure and it's 55 psi. WHat's next?

When you say it fires, are you checking for spark at the plugs ?
In most cases you have to figure out if it is spark, fuel, or compression to proceed. A mechanic would also check the computer for trouble codes but you would need a scanner or code reader to do that.

1990 Cadillac Seville won't start. Is it the electronic control module?

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

My impala miss fires when i step on the gas whats wrong

please read about causes of this misfire in the engine.
The most common misfire causes on the cars I've worked on have been:
  1. Spark plugs
  2. Spark plug wires (most common)
  3. Ignition coil
  4. Fuel injector
  5. Wiring to fuel injector
  6. Timing Belt
  7. Vacuum leak or stuck open EGR
  8. Contaminated fuel or bad fuel pump
  9. Weak compression
  10. Blown head gasket

Iam having a miss fire every time i start my car on my 2001 chevy impala how do i set the timing with out taking it to the dealer i changed the plugs and the wiring and the pressure regulator still nothing...

The timing is not settable in a traditional sense of the days of distributors. The spark timing is controlled by the computer. If the computer is getting a bad signal, your spark timing will be off. Generally, a mis-fire isn't caused by bad spark timing. A sticking fuel injector, a bad or improperly seated spark plug wire, or a bad sensor will cause your mis-fires.

Engine turns over but no spark

the main problems with newer car not getting fire is the crank position sensor its located behind the pulleys on the crank shaft or mounted on the block . when they get old they will lose connection on the inside causing them to fail . it should have has a 2 wire plug-in
