Do you mean that injector #1 is spraying fuel externally or leaking into engine?

Likely the O ring on the top of the fuel injector that seals it to the fuel rail hes failed. You need to remove the fuel rail and change the O ring. Use Viton O rings for sealing gasoline.

Lube the O rings before reassembly, should go together smoothly and not need to be forced.

    Since you know about it i assume it is external leak ( but we know what you get when you assume :( ). If it is internal the injector is bad or the computer that drives the injector is bad.

    Tell me more details like how you know it is always spraying fuel?



    As soon as the key is on the fuel pump starts and pressure is always at the back of the injector, the injector is the valve that turns the gas on and off to the inside of the engine. If gas is leaking at the back of the injector it is an O ring, if the injector is spraying fuel inside the engine all the time there is likely some debris sticking the injector open.



    Put your finger on top of the injector while the engine is running and see if you can feel it opening and closing. This can also be checked with a meter or electrical tester.

Sounds like the relay is stuck in an open position and needs to be replaced.

Most of the times on jeeps and all chrysler auto's they have a body control modual this is what controls your door locks , windows ect. It should be in the owners manual for all fuse location and identification. A shop with a scanner can check the door lock system for you. body control moduals go bad alot on all chyslers and if you buy one you need to buy it from the dealership they will program it . So check the owners manual for a fuse and then have the body control mod checked

SOURCE: 04 Wrangler AC fan only works on high speed (position4).

Its the switch behind the fan nob thats not making contact, you have to pop the cover off the dash where the radio fan and other gizmos are. Then remove the fan nobs by pulling them straight off after that unscrew the housing unit inside is the switch. You must carefully pry this open so as not to break the plastic clips holding it together the switch thats fryed should just pop out easy replacement fan switch! If my mind serves me right it costs 40$ to replace if you order from chrysler.

On the back of the control panel there is a plastic connector that plugs into the fan speed control. You can unplug it and use a meter to find incoming (hotwire) take a jumper or a 6 inch peice of wire and insert it into the spade where the hot wire is wired to. Take the other end of the wire and insert it into the 1st spade in the plastic connector next to the hot wire spade this will let you know that the fan will run at the selected speed. Then pull the test wire out and plug it into the next spade and so on and so on. I am sure your fan will respond step by step , fan speed 1 then 2 and then 3. After you make this test you will know that your fan is ok. You will just have to replace the plastic connector with new spades in it. You should see some evidence of over heating on the old connector. It may be that you only need to unsnap the connector and then reconnet it and it will probably work fine. It has proberly just become partially unpluged. All the other info that I gave you early on was just to trouble shoot it. mike

Sounds like it's flooding itself. Maybe the choke is sticking on.
Check the air filter and make sure its not plugged.

03 3.7 have new o rings for bottom of injectors do you put it on the head first or on the injector just put head gaskets on jeep


old post but see it asked many times.
assemble the rail first, its 1 piece so must be ready first.
3.7L Engine (FSM) RTM?
(1) If fuel injectors are to be installed, refer to Fuel
Injector Removal/Installation.
(2) Clean out fuel injector machined bores in
intake manifold.
(3) Apply a small amount of engine oil to each fuel
injector o-ring. This will help in fuel rail installation.
(4) Position fuel rail/fuel injector assembly to
machined injector openings in cylinder head.
(5) Guide each injector into cylinder head. Be careful
not to tear injector o-rings.
(6) Push right side of fuel rail down until fuel
injectors have bottomed on cylinder head shoulder.
Push left fuel rail down until injectors have bottomed
on cylinder head shoulder.
(7) Install 4 fuel rail mounting bolts and tighten.
Refer to torque specifications.
(8) Install 6 ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil
Removal/Installation.
(9) Connect electrical connectors to throttle body.
(10) Connect electrical connectors at all fuel injectors.
To install connector, refer to (Fig. 37). Push connector
onto injector (1) and then push and lock red
colored slider (2). Verify connector is locked to injector
by lightly tugging on connector.
(11) Connect necessary vacuum lines to throttle
body.
(12) Connect fuel line latch clip and fuel line to
fuel rail. Refer to Quick-Connect Fittings.
(13) Install air box to throttle body.
(14) Install air duct to air box.
(15) Connect battery cable to battery.
(16) Start engine and check for leaks.

2003 Jeep Liberty- Starter is turning, but eng won't start (intermittent problem)


Battery could be weak. Not enough current to keep the engine firing. If battery is more than 3 years old then replace it. Other thing could be the fuel injector. Maybe need cleaning. Use injector cleaner additive in fuel. Get the right type for your engine and follow instructions on container.

To bleed the fuel system you need to remove the plunger on the fuel rail. It is located where you hook up a fuel pressure gauge. Once it is removed have someone cycle the ignition key to the KEY ON ENGINE OFF position, or the accessories position, 2 - 3 times this will get all of the air out. Also place a tube on the fuel pressure fitting so that fuel doesn't spray all over the place. Once this is done replace the plunger and cycle the key 2 - 3 more times. This will ensure fuel is at the injectors

How to install a fuel injector on a 2002 jeep liberty 3.7


so that mean the old one is all ready removed.?
or did you mean all steps in the fsm for INJECTOR.
the steps are the same on all EFI fuel rail injectors.
you could google that or you tube it or read the FSM.

hide call keys from step 2 on, or very bad things can happen.
(wife or kids no aware of danger)
ill just cover the (basics)
1: per FSM , depressurize the system, in can be at 60PSI
parked. so avoid fuel in eyes, or a fire. we do that first.
gain access to rail under failure. (RUF) (no barking)
2: remove injector X , wire plug. (failing)
3: then detach the injector rail clamps the both rails off as one....
injector are all now loose, to pull off.
4: add new seals to new injector, and install in reverse order.

that's it, only the gain access , varies,... mostly.

last depressure steps:
run engine,
remove fuel pump relay, engine stalls. key off, hide keys

next tje FSM words (just the OFF section)

  1. Remove fuel tank filler tube cap.
  2. Perform Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure.
  3. Remove negative battery cable at battery.
  4. Remove air duct at throttle body air box.
  5. Remove air box at throttle body.
  6. Disconnect fuel line latch clip and fuel line at fuel rail. A special tool will be necessary for fuel line disconnection.
  7. Remove necessary vacuum lines at throttle body.
  8. Disconnect electrical connectors at all 6 fuel injectors. Push red colored slider away from injector. While pushing slider, depress tab and remove connector from injector. The factory fuel injection wiring harness is numerically tagged (INJ 1, INJ 2, etc.) for injector position identification. If harness is not tagged, note wiring location before removal.
  9. Disconnect electrical connectors at throttle body sensors.
  10. Remove 6 ignition coils.
  11. Remove 4 fuel rail mounting bolts.
  12. Gently rock and pull left side of fuel rail until fuel injectors just start to clear machined holes in cylinder head. Gently rock and pull right side of rail until injectors just start to clear cylinder head holes. Repeat this procedure (left/right) until all injectors have cleared cylinder head holes.
  13. Remove fuel rail (with injectors attached) from engine.

Check engine light flashing Computer is number 1 cylinder misfiring New spark plugs New number 1 cylinder plug discolored No apparent oil or antifreeze leaks


the fuel injector is not pulsing correctly,it probably has something in the screen in side of it,you will need to check that screen in the injector or replace it
