I have the same car but a gt. All you have to do is put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position, leave it that way for 10 to 15 minutes, then the security light will start blinking, then you can start your car!
You need to replace the ignetion. Go to a junkyard and purchase a used one with a key, remove the radio and the ignetion lock is right there.I did this repair in my driveway with a few tools and less that 30 minutes for about $60. the dealer wanted $400 for the lock, $90 to match the old key to the new lock and $300 for labour. I have one key to unlock the doors and trunk and the other key starts the car. That was two years ago and no more issues.
You may be able to reset the security system by turning the ignition on for 15 min with the door open. If this doesn't work, you will need to take it to the dealer.

from what i have read, it is design to cut the gas supply so no one can still your car. Mine car wouldn't crank at all with the light blinking. turn the key to the on position and wait 10 minutes. turn it off and try to crank it. it has worked every time on mine. I have also read to cut the LITTLE yellow wire that runs from ignition, but i don't feel comfortable cutting wires even though you can always reattch the wire.

The process for the passlock relearn is correct. If by chance the relearn does not work, you may have a fail component in the system. Go to this link for options to fix this yourself.

Hello! The vehicle is equipped with the GM Pass-Key System..Also called VATS system....It works so well that 1000's of owners can not start their cars..It can only be bypassed with a commercial kit sold on Amazon.com (example). First I need to know a little background...Is this a problem with the owner using a new key; Or key is fine and it just quit working? The key has a resistor in it...It has been called a "chip" for so long that the name stuck...See the photo below and tell me if this is what the keys look like...#1...Clean the chip with contact cleaner...#2 Spray contact cleaner into the key slot...There are two contacts inside the key slot...If this does not work then the Theft Module is defective...At the PCM C-2 Pin# 44 is a Yellow wire...Cut the wire (leave enough slack to re-connect if needed) and Alligator clip it to ground...NOT THE END GOING INTO THE PCM but the cut end looking away from the PCM...See if the car will start...Send a comment...Guru...Saailer
