Cost at a shop to fix it $300 and up. Its really not that hard if you want to do it yourself. The power steering pump is located a the top of the motor its black and has 4 9 or 10 mm bolts holding it.
1. Remove belt
2. unbolt steering pump
3. unclamp hoses from pump keep them raised so fulid don't run out.
4. Replace pump

Thats four 9mm or 10mm bolts. After installing start car and turn steering wheel left and right a few times then check fulid level.

My power steering fluid comes back out on 2002 Ford Taurus I just put a new belt on it

Darlene, did you by chance overfill the power steering reservoir or was there any other steering work done recently. Could be air in the system, a bad pump, pinched/collapsed hose, etc. You may have to have a good Tech. diagnose and estimate repair. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

2001 Taurus - There is a loud squealing sound when I turn the steering wheel to the left only. Not when I turn right.

Check your power steering fluid level. If it's a creaking noise you may need new struts. If it's a squeal, then it's might be a loose or worn belt.

Most likely the rack & pinion assembly needs replacing. Had the same issue on my '01 Taurus SES. Most of the fluid comes out just inside the left front wheel?

I have a 98 ford taurus and the power steering pump locked up but i got it unlocked and now my power steering does not work could it geting locked up effect my power steering

hi yes this could have had an adverse affect on the pump itself, you have to ask why it locked up in the first place, this could be that one of the internal pump shims might have broke and made the pump lock up and as it is now free, the pump is not turning correctly inside and the missing shim will not be pushing the fluid arround hard enough for the actual presure to influance the steering wrack, hope that has sort of explained it, you will need to replace it as it will cost more to fix than replace, hope this helps

Power steering pump pulley whines and is trying to lock up. What do I need to fix it? Pulley moves in and out freely. Expect a bushing or bearing at fault.

Unfortunately, you'll have to replace it. If there were a way to repair it, it would cost more than the replacement part.
