Just lost my brakes, raining out couldnt see fluid coming out and reservoir wont stay full. bad brake line ? or wat?

Brake line or what is right. You will need to check lines, wheel cylinders, calipers and master cylinder.

2000 electraglide, trying to bleed brakes on the rear master cylinder. I take the cap off master cylinder put a hose on bleeder valve, pump up break and hold it down crack the valve and nothing comes out....


does the pedal have pressure then go down after valve is cracked? With a hose on the nipple to a bottle to catch the fluid, press rear brake pedal down. Don\'t pump the brakes. Crack the bleeder valve while continuing to press down on the pedal. Once the pedal reaches the limit of its travel close the valve. Once the valve is closed; and not before; release the pedal and let it return to its at rest position. Repeat this process until you have good pedal without the need to pump, good clean fluid is coming out the valve, and no air is in the fluid coming out the valve. Be sure not to let the fluid in reservoir get too low or you will suck in air and need to start over and don\'t press the pedal too quickly or you can shoot a stream of brake fluid out the reservoir.

In very extreme cases, if you have lost prime in the master cylinder, it may be necessary to bleed the master cylinder first. THIS IS A LAST RESORT. Remove the brake line from the master cylinder. Try to limit the loss of fluid from the brake line to bare minimum. Thread a nipple into the master cylinder. Run a hose from the nipple into the reservoir. Be sure the hose stays submerged in the fluid in the reservoir and pump the brake until no bubbles come out the hose. Remove the nipple and reinstall the brake line. Slowly press down the brake pedal while tightening the line to minimize the air bubble in the brake line. Again be sure not to release the pedal until the line is tight. Then proceed to bleed the brakes as you normally would. Do not pump the brakes up. Just press the pedal down, crack the valve, close the valve, release the pedal, repeat.

How to bleed brakes


Supplies you will need:

bottle of brake fluid

small clear container

18" length of 1/4 inch I.D. clear tubing

wrench that fits your bleed screw

another person

Open hood,loosen lid to brake reservoir to be able to monitor fluid level. Removing the tires makes it easier to access bleed screws but not necessary on all vehicles. Start at the caliper farthest from the reservoir, attach tubing onto bleed screw so it is tight fitted on bleed nipple.Put enough brake fluid into clear container and put open end of tubing into fluid, ensure tube stays in fluid throughout entire process as to not suck air into system. Have your assistant sit in car and pump brake pedal three times and hold to floor, then loosen bleed screw just enough to relieve pressure in brake line, the brake pedal will sink right to the floor..this is normal. DO NOT RELEASE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL BLEED SCREW IS TIGHTENED AGAIN. Repeat this process until clear tube is full of brake fluid and no bubbles come out of caliper. Repeat steps for all calipers. Hope this helps

check the vacume line to the braking master cylinder if this lose vacuum the peddle will go to the floor and have poor braking.

1993 camry brake light wont go off


In order of most likely...

1. Switch on your e-brake stuck/bad/out of adjustment. Try pulling up on your e-brake or locate the switch and see if it's working.

2. Low on brake fluid, check the fluid reservoir in the engine compartment. Sensor switch could also be stuck/bad, unplug from reservoir and plug back in, tap lightly with screwdriver handle.

3. Burnt out tail/brake light somewhere on the car.

4. Not sure I've ever seen a fuse make the light stay on, maybe the ABS light but not the brake light, but you never know.

Soft (mushy) braking on my 2005 Dodge Dakota V6


soft and mushy brakes is a sign that there could be air in the brake system or your master cylinder has a bad O-ring in it.
first thing to check is to see if there is fluid in your brake fluid reservoir,, if the fluid level is low - then re-fill the reservoir and bleed the brake lines ( all the brake lines ). if the reservoir is full - then I would assume that the master cylinder is bad and needs to be replaced,, but there is also a chance that you have a leak somewhere in a line or at the distribution valve -- make sure you look for the leak.

Clutch suddenly has no resistance and car won't shift gears. Fluids were low, have put fluid in the reservoir but still doesn't work. How do you bleed a clutch line?


on the transmission there is a slave cylinder that works like a brake cylinder, when you apply pressure to the clutch pedal a rod inside the vehicle under the dash pushes into a clutch master cylinder, (almost like a brake master cylinder without the reservoir, as the clutch master cylinder works off the brake master cylinders reservoir) the plunger in the clutch master cylinder applies fluid pressure to the slave cylinder,(located down on the trans near the clutch fork assembly) which projects a piston rod into the clutch fork dis-engaging the clutch. To bleed the clutch slave cylinder locate the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder,break loose so it loosens and tightens easily. Check fluid in brake master cylinder reservoir,fill if needed, while bleeder on the slave cyl is closed have a helper push clutch pedal to floor and back 7-8 times, (At first the clutch might stay at the floor, just pull it up by hand or foot and continue) after several pumps with no rest time push pedal to the floor and hold down with foot pressure, at this time loosen the bleeder on slave untill fluid leaks out, watch for air bubbles, close bleeder and repeat untill there is no sign of air bubbles, (make sure to check fluid in the brake master cylinder and keep fill as needed, do not let fluid get less than 1/2 empty as it might **** air and you will have to start over) If this does not bring clutch to operate then you need to check if slave cylinder is reachig its full extension of push rod or not. If it is not then you will have to replace the clutch master cyl or the clutch slave cyl or both as seals are bad and wont hold pressure. Or you need to inspect the clutch fork,the throw-out bearing, or the pressure plate fingers and clutch plate for failure or broken bent parts. I hope it turns out to be a easy fix on that clutching thing.

check first the brake fluid reservoir to see if it is full, then bleed the brakes if the petal will not come up.

ABS LIGHT COMES ON MAYBE STAY ON FOR AWEEK THENGOES OFF IT STAYS OFF FOR WEEKS THEN COMES ON AGAIN


check the brake reservoir, if low put brake fluid. check brake pressure in the braking system. bleed the brake lines.
