Question about Cadillac Eldorado

1 Answer

According to CarFax the radiator was flushed out in 1998. My mechanic wants to pressurize the radiator to see if there is a leak, since the thing overheated yesterday and lost a substancial amount of coolant. He told us to cut the air conditioner on and leave it running in the meantime, since both fans would come on and keep it cool until we could return for the pressure test.

Does it still make heat as normal? If not, may be stuck thermostat, time to replace this. Could also be a clogged radiator...if no leaks, may just need radiator flush...

My engine is overheating. I have replaced the thermostat, and did a pressure test (found a small leak in my radiator). I have flushed the coolant and refilled with bars leak (for the radiator leak)

bud not to be funny get the head gasket replaced and get some expert to see if your head is not buckled or hair cracked due to over heating

My 1998 century over heats

Check condition and operation of thermostat.
Check operation of radiator cooling fan when hot.
Check radiator coolant level. If low, then perform a cooling system pressure check to identify cause of leak.
Check coolant condition. If using water only, then corrosion may build up within system and cause blockages. If blocked, then flush system and refill with anti freeze-water mixture of 50/50.

I have a 1998 s90 volvo with 226 k miles and it leaks antifreeze. The strange thing is that it does not do it right away after parking the car, it starts later. I can also open the antifreeze reserve tank...

I think I would check the thermostat. You can buy one that opens sooner..Like yours might open at 180...but you can buy them to open at 160....Flush your radiator..Might not be circulating good..cat converter could be slowing clogging causing pressure back tour you motor...Car will start back firing sometimes..loose acceleration... That's my list

How to flush a radiator in a 1998 chev lumina

remove the coolant at the bottom drain valve, then remove the bottom radioator hose also the top radiator hose, make sure its park at the steet or curb. put a garden hose on the top radiator hose holding up with a rag around the hose and radiator hose so it wont leak the pressure. and just let the bottom empty all that **** out. i done this to so many cars to clean up all the built up between the guides. hope this helps you k!!!

My car is over heating when im going down the hwy

May have head gasket leak. If so will be loosing water, possibly quite slowly. At highway speeds cylinder pressure is higher and so gasket leak more likely. Means gasket damage or loose cylinder head. Can be checked by mechanic. (pressure test and cylinder head bolt tension test)
Less likely alternatives, the spark timing is too advanced or the fuel too poor.

1998 aurora overheating

I had the same problem and tried several things that didn't help. A friend introduced me to a Northstar mech. that explained the real problem. Internal engine relief was faling which created overheating between cylinder sleeves and engine block creating blow back pressure in cooling system. There is a fix for this. The mechanic helped me with the problem and car is running once more... Anyone thinking they have a head gasket, intake gasket, or thermostate problem should look at this fix.

Coolant leaking, temperature too hot when stopped

sounds like your being ripped off if mechanic cant isolate and repair what is a simple problem. You will need to find a mechanic who has a pressure tester to isolate the leak and confirm that its leaking from that specific point not guess and replace at your expense every part of the water system.
