SOURCE: how do i fix an air lock in gas tank of a ford freestar 2003 se

Not sure I understand your question.
Everytime the gas cap is removed pressure inside the tank is equalized with outside air.
If you run the tank empty you can damage the pump, which would cause a lack of fuel in the line to the injectors.

Took 1/2 hr to get 20 $ worth of gas into tank because of air lock ? also now my gas gauge is not moving from empty ? 09 Caliber

That's about three minutes per gallon. Are you quite sure it isn't leaking out? Air locking can be handled with a piece of hose that reaches into the pipe but leaves room for filling. Just be sure it isn't soluble in gasoline or can be pushed into the tank.

Can`t get gas to go in the gas tank only a little at a time

There is gasoline in the vent tube blocking air from exiting the tank. This happens when you over fill the tank. With an almost empty tank, leave off the gas cap and VERY gently apply compressed air to the vent tube. Once cleared the tank will fill normally.

When fuelling only a spoonful goes into the tank befoe the nozell shuts off.

Sometimes the fuel venting system does not release the vacuum enough to allow refueling. You would think that opening the gas-cap would vent everything, but it does not. The evaporator canister solenoid valve could be sticking.

Also check your gas tank straps. One strap could be loose or the fuel-pump could have been replaced and the tank rehung crooked. If you imagine filling the tank, you need the high side by the tank filler neck.

Check with a Chrysler dealer about any service bulletins regarding fixes for your problem. They may have a redesigned filler neck to eliminate the air lock you are experiencing.

Stop at gas station after driving 250 miles in my 2000 s10 extreme and pump shuts off like tank is full after 3 gallons of gas go in...should take 11 or so gallons. Also gas gauge stays on full and will...

sounds like you have a restriction in the fuel inlet pipe,( maybe air locking) also your tank sender unit neads replacing to fix you gauge fault, or it maybe that it has something that is not alowingf it to move freely inside the tank, have a good look inside when low on fuel. through the hole where the sender is fitted.

Engine runs bad at half tank or less

Ok ready for this one,new gas cap,its true cars with bad gas caps will cause the check engine light go on,or your problem,it has to be pressurized when full and no air in the tank its ok,but as you use gas and have air in the tank with the low fuel the air pressure is leaking pass the cap, thus losing pressure, too bad you had to fix all the other stuff but look at it as an investment, after this works please give me a fix ya thanks
