Question about 2004 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Is there any recalls for stalling and electrical ??

I have a 2004 Ford Focus and it keeps stalling out! I turn the air on and the car runs really rough makes like a sputtering sound while in drive at red lights? I have had a new water pump and a new fuel pump put in the past 2 weeks. Why when I turn the air on my whole car feels like its going to stall? I also cant drive to the shore because every year I need a tow truck to get me because it stalls out!!! If I fixed everything and its still sputtering could it be electrical also?? I cant take it anymore!

It could be a lot of things, check the gas cap, vacuum leak, IAC, may need a tune-up ( check plugs, wires, air filter), seizing pulley, timing issue (check CKP sensor and CMP sensor), sticking valves, misfire, Fuel line pressure, or an issue with CAT or muffler.Good luck.

SOURCE: truck stalled out while driving will not start

Not sure about your truck older Fords have 2 fuel pumps 1 in the tank & 1 under cab drivers side. Anytime you change a pump you must change your filter. also check your fuel line if it has been pinched or has a leak pressure will drop

Why does my air conditioner make my car stall?

If your A/C compressor clutch is binding or seized, - the extra load will slow down the engine as everything runs on 1 belt on this car - check your Freon level and refill or replace the clutch/compressor

2005 Ford focus zx5 that will start but won't stay running. The weather has been extremely frigid (-40 with wind chill). Gas line antifreeze has been added, however it still is doing the same thing. ...

My screen is showing both a 2005 and a 2000 model Focus. Since you have been waiting for an hour or more I will try to help.

There was a recall on the 2000 Models and it is extended the TSB# is 03n01. But you need help in a parking lot. Your woman must adapt to the conditions and not expect the engine to IDLE with her foot OFF the pedal. If you put in the additive I can tell you it works and when it works the bottle use to say to REV the engine until all of the white smoke stopped.

The moisture is going to stall that engine out at idle, she should keep it running about 1500 RPM until it warms up. There is also a possibility that the MAP sensor in the Air intake is dirty or wet. It is a delicate device and only Electrical cleaner is recommended, no choke cleaner, no brake cleaner. WD40 may or may not work. It leaves a residue which may collect dust, but you can use Electric cleaner to remove the WD40 later.

Would like to know the outcome of this case and I hope my solutions were of help to you.

Ignition switch may be bad. Ford has a history of recalling vehicles for faulty ignition switches. You may call and take to a service rep at a dealership and find out if there is a recall for your vehicle regarding this matter.

What is the senser called on the back of the engine on a 2004 ford focus. it does air and fuel mix. zetec 2.0

There is an electrical motor call Idle Air Control (IAC motor).

The computer will send signal/power to this motor to increase the idle by few rpm when load increase.

Example: turn on headline, turn on ac or turn on heater inside the car.

2001 ford focus zx3 stalling

Sounds like fuel problems. Turning your car in any direction has nothing to do with it. I assume your car is fuel in jected. Also that you have had the plugs , wires , cap and rotor replaced. If not do this. Then if you still have the problems the fuel presure has to be checked. That requires an inline gage be attached to check the presure while engine is running. If thats okay, then the fuel presure regulator might be sticking. Of course things like water in the fuel take and filters all need to be checked. Im sorry that its a big job. If you have to pay someone itll cost you money. If they just replace parts (guessing) thats no way to go about it. So plugs, wires, cap and rotor.replace. Then fuel delivery. I suggest you get the book for 15 bucks from autozone. Good luck

Ford Focus cutting out

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Engine turns but won't start

What year is the focus, And have you checked the ford recalls on the car? I know that when I owned my focus there was a recall with the fuel pump in the tank and i had somewhat of the same problem myself. If your only getting gas to only ONE spark plug, your issue probably lies somewhere in your fuel delivery system (i.e. Fuel pump, fuel filter etc. etc.). Which would also describe the " It stalls out then the engine won't start for along time again.". Let me know, I'll keep trying to troubleshoot with you. Good luck!
