SOURCE: Bad smell coming from heater/ smoke coming out vents

I had the same problem in my 98 Dodge Dakota! Replaced the heater core, problem solved. No more funky coolant smell and erie fog coming through my vents. I bought the heater core at rockauto.com online. Have purchased many items now from them. All factory parts so far at half the price of even AutoZone, even with the shipping. Also, you usually have to wait only a couple of days depending on the part and they have EVERYTHING.

SOURCE: I have a 2006 Ford Expedition. The Air

you have a vacuum loss to the ac control head, the motors that divert air are vacuum operated, if you loose vacuum the system goes to defrost for safety reasons, the vacuum comes from the engine, then goes o a plastic vacuum tank under the hook start there, it is a 3/16 id hose.

SOURCE: why does my ford taurus air conditioner only work

the deflecter is not working you were probably using the defroster when it quit working you will have to take the dash out in order to replace it with a new one.

SOURCE: when i turn the air on it doesn't flow from the front vents.

Sounds like the switch or actuator is not operating. Some vehicles have mechanical operators, and some have vacuum actuators. If a vacuum line is loose, it will not actuate.

Why when I start my car is there an odor coming from vents that smells like something is burning, and my Air Conditioner still blows, but it only blows out hot air. 2008 Chrysler Sebring. Help?

have an accredited ac shop as an ac cannot produce hot air only cold air so that means that the ac is not working (leaks low on gas etc). The hot air is from the heater in the car and the smell is probably wire overheating or the resistors are burning.

Ford Escape Heater Vent Control

suspect a control panel issue as this HVAC (heater, ventilation, Air conditioning ) system should be all electric... If you can pull the control panel out looking at the back of it will answer your question... are the cables or just wires..

My car smells really strong of gasoline when I start my ford escape?

You may have a leaky injector or fuel filter. If it comes stronger when you just start your car, it could be because the injector is leaking overnight and builds up on the engine, which is then promptly burned and brought in through the air vents.

I have a 2005 Ford Escape - this past week have noticed exhaust fumes coming in through the heat vents- has been very cold here - could it be something frozen or another problem?

chec the entire exhaust area for leaks or smells--cold will often break worn parts--dont use car till its fixed--carbon monoxide is 200 times stronger than oxygen

The air conditioning in my 2005 T&C stopped working. Right before it stopped there was a "burnt" smell coming through the vents. What happened?

No air coming from air conditioning vents
  1. Check the air conditioner fuse and replace as necessary.
  2. Air conditioner system discharged. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by an MVAC certified technician, utilizing approved recovery/recycling equipment. Repair as necessary.
  3. Air conditioner low pressure switch defective. Replace switch.
  4. Air conditioner fan resistor pack defective. Replace resistor pack.
  5. Loose connection, broken wiring or defective air conditioner relay in air conditioning electrical circuit. Repair wiring or replace relay as necessary. Air conditioner has a smell when used
    1. The air conditioner evaporator drain hose is blocked or partially restricted, allowing condensation to build up around the evaporator and drainage tray. Clear the drain hose where it exits the passenger compartment.
    2. Check compressor clutch wiring, electrical connections and compressor clutch, and repair or replace as necessary.

I have a mildew smell that comes from the air conditioner vents. From the research I've done, I believe I have a problem with a clog in the drain hose of the evaporator drain pan. Where is the hose...

The flow out pipe could be blocked due to constant dirt that has acumulated and got stuck on with the condensation. The drain is at the bottom of the cooling/blower unit. The drain goes out in the edge of the engine room. Jack up the engine and use a mild nylon tubing to push into the drain pipe to clean off the dirt. If the car has accumulated a lot of dirt specially if you have run with thewindows down then there is every possiblity of dust/dirt in the tray which could also clog up the cooling pipes. In this case you ust remove the front dash and use a good powerful air spray to clean the pipes. Reset and check. Hope you try. Good day

2003 fuel smell

could be an exhaust leak, or a bad gas cap.  gas caps have a vent that allows air to escape from the tank safely, if you notice a depressurizing sound when you take the gas cap off it should be replaced, it's possible that the air is building up in the tank and leaking out somewhere it shouldn't be, in which case this is very unsafe so please be careful if you must drive it this way.
