Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 2001Kia Sorrento & the ignition was taken out but still intact in two pieces & of course rewired. It was starting just fine until I moved a lever under the steering wheel... It died & won't restart. It turns over but won't start.

Probably it is the ignition wire that got disconnected turning off power to your ignition system.

SOURCE: when turning steering wheel to left very hard to turn

Sounds like the begining of a bad rack n pinion. We can eliminate the pump because the car turns to the right fine. There is no loss of fluid? The only thing left is the rack. It is a fairly commin issue. Use to call it morning sickness, The cars would be hard to turn in the morning or when first started but after running and warming up for a while they would start to work properly.

Hey I had a similar problem with my '02 Focus. The problem was the actual wiring into the ignition module. The wire into cylinder 1 and 3 broke (but were very difficult to see) and was giving me codes as well. Pretty common problem in that age of the focus. It made my focus hesitate and chug until the temps came up. I went to the junk yard, found a focus with a rewired module (with a heavier gauge wire), replaced it and magic. Hope that helps

I am having issues with the kay pass. sometimes it doesn't start until I move the steering wheel or tilt the steering wheel. then when it doesn't start a wait a few minutes and use the other ignition key...

sounds more like a bad key u said when u use the one key it starts. Use that key all the time if u still have problems then u probley need a new lock cylinder as far as eliminate system being as this is a anti theft system they make close to impossible to eliminate not to say it cant be done but take alot of rewiring and to pay a mecanic to rewire it for you will cost more than the defective part

how does the engine sound while turning over does it sound normal is the timing belt still intact. if the timing belt is still intact and the engine sounds like it don't have any compression replace the plug but before installing new plugs get a qt of oil and pour about 1 or 2 caps full of oin in each cylinder this will help build the compression and hopefully it should start if it does it will smoke a few minutes but will be fine.

Pajero NK87 petrol guage not working, shows empty even when tank is full

Sounds like the Fuel sender unit in the fuel tank needs replacing however you may want to check that the electrical plugs are contacting properly,Check that the gauge is working by putting a piece of wire from the sender unit wire to the chassis,at the fuel tank sender unit plug,Turn ignition on while watching gauge if it moves toward fill turn ignition off and remove wire to chassis. If gauge moves it means from the fuel tank to fuel gauge is intact and not your problem.
