Question about 1993 Mercedes-Benz Mercedes Benz 300 Class
1993 mb300e2.8L hard starting when engine reaches normal running temp.
This is a fairly common problem with naturally-aspirated engines as they age, because the oxygen sensors become contaminated and do not operate as effectively, plus the idle air controls become sluggish in their operation and fail to adjust quickly enough. If the CHECK ENGINE light is on, check the codes, and most likely you will find that one or more of the oxygen sensors are at fault.
Try starting the car while holding the throttle at 1/3 to 1/2 until it starts. If it starts more easily that way, do that each time you start the car when it's warm. Replacing the oxygen sensors and the idle air control will solve the problem but part-throttle starting will save time and money in the meantime if the trick works.

SOURCE: hard start
have u done a fuel pump pressure leakdown test? if not do one, the fuel pressure must stay within 5 PSI of the pressure at engine shut down for 24 hours, if it leaks down u will get a hard start and long cranking times, I suspect this is the problem but do the test, u will need a fuel pressure test guage (avail from Kragen auto), the test port is on the tiop of th engine in the fuel supply rail to the fuel injectors, looks like a metal tire valve.

I have a question for you. Does the car idle a bit rough? If so you may may have a blown fuse. Behind the battery there's a false wall that you can remove. Inside the compartment there's a relay with a small flip up cover. Under the cover there should be a fuse. If the fuse is blown the car will start a bit hard and will idle a bit rough.

if it's trying to start and takes long time to start ,, first of all you have to think about the fuel filter and petrol pump.(replace both together)

engine wiring harness upper and lower could be degraded, coil could be bad, throttle positioner, fuel distributor could be bad and depending if its a half year car and you have an OVP that could be bad. Also after a full tune up have someone adjust the duty cycle.
