Question about Cars & Trucks
Have you checked to see if a pulley or ac compressor is locked up or if the engine is locked . First take belt off and try to start if it starts something is locked up on front of engine . If no progress try turning engine with a socket if it turns easy there's most likely a ground or wiring problem

Drive the car to the auto parts store and have them test the battery and alternator for proper charge. You probably just bought a dud, even though they are new. Doesn't happen much but does happen.

Here is the deal.. you disconnected the battery and the factory alarm module / keyless door entry is perventing engine start.
Open the drivers door with your key and then press and hold the alarm valet switch under the left side of the dash near the left side wall of the drivers' compartment and then turn on the ignition key.
Then start your vehicle.
If you still have the origanl vehicle manuals for the auto / radio / alarm and keyless entry follow the PROGRAMMING instructions in the alarm / keyless entry manual to start your vehicle.
Thanks for using Fixya.

check the ignition coil, if the coil fails car will not start!! it provides the maximum voltage for the ignition system. but be sure starter solenoid is ok. have a great day!! if this is a 1.8 then get in touch with dealership it may be on the recall list. give vin number! (the 1.6 and 2.0 this recall has no effect on you). the recall is for 99 thru 2000.
