Question about 2001 Hyundai Elantra
Brake light stay on but when u hit the brakes the lights go off
Brake light cabling and circuitry is very simple. Is one of the few systems in a car that does not go through a relay. Most common problems with brake lights are cause by defective brake light bulbs. What happens is that one of the two filaments burns out and it touches the adjacent filament. When this happens, all sorts of strange behaviors happen.
I would recommend replacing both (all) brake light bulbs. If the problem continues, next suspect is a frayed cable from the brake light switch at the brake pedal.
