While if it was working before then there is little problems which you have to check steep by steep !
1. go check your car light bulbs & light grips on back of your car .
If Bulbs look good then.
2. check fuse in fuse box which is on driver side & on fuse box cover its written on stop lamp & you can check other fuse as well just to confirm if there is another shorting.
If all fuse are good then check .
3.Check brake pedal upper side there is one switch which have two wire out check there wire or grip if its have losing then it wont work.
if its look proper attached then .
4.This switch have threads which can be adjustable before taking any step to adjust just check when you are pressing a brake pedal there is a plastic needle working inside its come out or not ,If its come out then your brake light switch gone wrong or if its not coming then plastic needle is jammed inside & your car brake light not working.
Just to confirm if your brake switch is in good condition or in bad condition .
Okay this is final steep you have to check or confirm it switch problem .....
5. There is two wire on back of brake pedal switch or in a grip coming out , So if its in grip or just on clips, then take a wire piece & bypass or joint both wire which is coming from wire loom sid to brake pedal & check your brake lamps if its blink or on than 100% you car brake pedal switch is not working or inside its short , So replace your car brake pedal switch or if still not blink or On then there is some issue in your car wiring & you better check you car to you auto electrician......
Hopefully you will save your amount not to visit you auto electrician.
best of luck....

If none of them work, I'd start with the fuses as it's unlikely all three bulbs just up and burned out.

Look through your manual, find the proper fuse, and pull it out. If it's busted the squiggly metal filament in the center will have a break, if it looks fine test it with an ohmmeter (most voltmeters have an ohm test function) just to be sure. It should NOT real OL.

If that doesn't work, connectors would be a second spot to try. I don't know how DYI capable you are, so it'll be up to you whether or not to have a shop diagnose anything further.

Buddy;Good Luck-That is normally a vwery easy question, but if an accident happened prior then lookout. Any-way it's either the bulbs are all burn't out or the brake lite fuse is blown-Could even be brake lite switch to the brake pedal out of adjustment or broken or shorted out-Good Luck-JT

If it is both, check your fuse. if it is only 1, check the bulb. If the bulb looks ok, change it anyway. It is difficult to see a burned out bulb sometimes. If the stop light bulb does not work then neither does the turn signal which is the same bulb on most vehicles.

1996 ford f 250 wont shift in to gear and brakes lights dont work

It would help to know a specific model, but a generic F250 answer is as follows. 15A fuse 13 in the fuse panel feeds power to the brake on/off switch which, when closed, turns on the high mount stop lamp. Power from the closed switch also is applied to the multifunction switch to turn on the stop filaments of the combination park/stop/turn lamps. If the fuse is OK and the high mount stop lamp turns on when you step on the brakes, all that remains is the multifunction switch or possibly burned out stop lamp filaments

Need instruction on fitting & wiring a towbar on my 1992 Mecedes 190E, 2ltr petrol Automatic

Hi there, the wiring sequence that I have is for the UK, I dont know where you are but I hope this helps
pin 1 Yellow L/H direction Indicator (turn Lamp)
pin 2 Blue Rear Fog Lamps
pin 3 White Earth Return
pin 4 Green R/H direction indicator (turn Lamp)
pin 5 Brown R/H Tail Lamp & No. Plate Lamp
pin 6 Red Stop Lamps
pin 7 Black L/H Tail Lamp & No. Plate lamp

you will have to trace the wires from the wiring loom and light clusters off the car to splice in the towbar wires which is quite easy, the chassis should have location points for the bracket, just make sure that the tow hitch is central and not obscuring the number/license plate..
Good Luck.
