Lo

Locate the distributor. DO NOT remove the wires from the old cap. Remove the three clamp-down screws and lift cap. Transfer the wires from the old cap to the new one ,one by one, making sure each wire is placed in the exact location as the old cap. I highly recommend that you also replace the rotor as well. Also, if the distributor got wet, I suggest you take a hair dryer and dry off the inside of the distributor after you remove the cap and rotor, and dry out the inside of each plug wire boot before you transfer each wire from the old cap to the new cap. Use dialectic grease ( it comes in small tubes) inside each spark plug boot. Just swipe the grease on the inside of the boot with a ear swab.

Shouldn't have to replace it. Just take it off any let it sit to dry it out. I've sunk one of my trucks and the distributor got wet and it was fine after letting it dry

I pressure washed my 90 Toyota Corolla engine now it wont start. I checked distributer cap n cant figure it out

Buy a can of WD40 and spray the inside of the Dist. cap and the dist. wait a few moments and retry. WD40? Means Water Displacement which it does perfectly. I still don't understand why peeps use it like its some sort of lubricant, It is not... It rids Distributer caps and rotor of water, Give it a try, you will drop ur jaw when it cranks right up!! It was a must for us when we went 4x4ing!! the electronics gets wet, out comes the good old WD40 then we were off tearing up the mudd till we swamp it again!!

1994 camry won't start after cleaning under the hood check dist. cap replaced spark plugs sounds like its going to start then doesn't.

Sounds like wet or moist spark plug wires. If this also occurs during early morning high dew point humid air, then you may have spark plug wires shorting out.

Replace wires.

Multiple missfires on 2000 blazer just off idle. seems better with the map sensor disconnected.4.3

first off, just take distributor cap off and check the cap for corrosion and pitting. turn the dist. shaft by hand. if it turns a lot then the gear on bottom of dist, shaft is worn. you can either replace dist. or replace gear on shaft. check all wires and plugs. hard to say, but i would start at distributor to see if it is ok.

Will not fire when wet or damp

Generally caused by spark shorting to ground over the moisture on the Distributor cap or top of ignition coil. A good remedy is spraying WD-40 on the dist. cap and ign. coil which will cancel the moisture problem

2002 chevy blazer 4 door 4x4 wont start when cold or rainy out but will start when the suns out and warm. Any ideas?

This sounds like a bad distributor or sparkplug wires. i would replace the cap and rotor and wire, a matter of fact just do a complete tune up. thye problem is the coil wire is shorting out when its damp or wet out and also you may have mosture in the dist cap.

98 k 1500 wont start when its rainy or snowing turns over rough and and act like it wants to start . after it dries out it starts but still starts rough. after i get it running it starts fine until it...

As for the rough or slow cranking when you have wet weather it sounds like the starter brushes and or some other problems inside of the starter. You can pull that and take it to most parts stores and they can check it for you. As for the ignition problem I would say to go ahead and replace the wires and plugs as well making sure to by top of the line 8mm wires A/C Delco is a great brand. I don't know where you have been buying your caps and rotors but I have seen this problem happen when people buy these parts from AutoZone so if that is where you are getting yours I would recommend you go to Napa auto parts or Oreilys. And again buy only top of the line, it cost more but they last so much longer. Good luck.

Try cleaning the injectors, preferably with a pressurized high strengh cleaner that attaches to the pressure test port.  While your at it take a fuel sample and check for water contamination.  Another possibility is a sticking valve and a compression test might show that but not always.
