Hello. You should take it back to where you had the job done and tell them what they did wrong. Or, you can put the cables in the right way your self and everything else should be working the right way. Good Luck.

May have blown the diodes in the alternator. But first check that your fuse and fusable link are good. This website may help.

My 98 lincoln continental keeps cutting off I changed the alternator and battery but my dash keeps blinking and it says check my charging system Wat could it be

Preliminary checks to the charging system should be made regardless of the fault condition. These checks include:
  • Check fuses/fuse links to the generator to make sure that they are not burned or damaged. This condition, resulting in an open circuit or high resistance, can cause erratic or intermittent charging system concerns.
  • Check battery posts and cable terminals for clean and tight connections. Clean the posts and cables to verify good electrical contact.
  • Check for secure connections at generator output, voltage regulator and engine ground. Also check connection at the power distribution box and harness.
  • Check generator drive belt to verify proper tension and no slip between the generator pulley and drive belt. Refer to Section 03-05 .
  • Check battery for full charge as described

Battery light stays on 2001 lincoln continental

battery light stay on because there is no output or below voltage out put from the alternator. Check that the battery terminals and posts are shiny clean and tight, if there is a charging circuit fuse (OK). Have the battery load tested . Remove the alternator and have it bench tested by an accredited auto electrician.

Morons hooked up battery backwards car runs fine but new alternator will not charge battery fuses are OK please help its a 1999 Lincoln Continental with 4.6 DOH

They probably blew a diode in the alternator and/or fried the voltage regulator. Take the alternator back and have it diagnosed outside the car.

New battery drains.

I can't imagine how changing the belt would have any effect on the electrical system if the alternator is working.
The way you check for a drain is to disconnect the battery ground cable and use a test light to make the connection between the battery and ground. If there is something drawing power from the battery the light will glow.
Then you pull each fuse from the fuse boxes until the light goes out. You also disconnect the starter and alternator if necessary.

My 1992 bmw 525i has a brand new alternator and battery but still not charging? is there maybe a charging fuse? or a computer problem?

replace the battery cables, positive, negitive and the one between the starting solenoid. the cables can corrode after so much time. cut open the cable if you can see green stuff inside the casing, cables are bad. (be sure to dissconnect cables before cutting open)
