Hello. The location chassis number is always on the bottom and it can be seen when the car is lifted. It could have been scrached off some how or the serial tag of the chassis fell off some how. Just to be safe and secure, go to Toyota Dealer and let them know what's the problem. Good Luck.

Depends what you mean by 'tampered a little'?

If you ground a quarter inch off the top, a lot will happen. If you tapped it with a hammer, nothing will happen.

Traction Control & Stabilitrak Lights Came On, Drove Badly, BUT No Codes

I'm a bit more experienced with older car models but when these things happen I immediately suspect the sensors/sensor-wiring within the axle because they are most receptable to damage. Did it happen on a wet trip? Maybe insulation got damaged? A bit weird that a Chevy dealer wouldn't spot that tough...

It could be a fuel system related problem.Have you changed the fuel filter? Also i would be using Lucas fuel injector cleaner as well. It only takes a spec of sand to clog injectors!

It could happen if the cap or rotor started to go bad and spark was arcing inside of the cap. Not to many other things could cause such a thing to happen.

Large puffs of white smoke coming from the tail pipe. resulted in no 1 casket being badly bent, now needs a new engine, how could this happen to an engine such as this. year 2000 had only done 42,000ks...

Sounds like the engine overheated, and blew the head gasket. With the modern aluminum blocks & heads, loss of cooling power spells death for the engine....all in less than 10 minutes. (*Had it happen to a 1991 Pontiac Grand Am, with a newly rebuilt engine, less that 2000 miles on it.*)
