Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

Daihatsu sirion 2007 automatic. Not revving over 3000 rpm. Fault code: P0105 and P1706, can some one help? Have tried another Engine control unit, does the same. In plugged most sensors and swoped most sensors from other vehicles, im clueless. I have also checked fuel pressure, thats fine.. its like it has a rev limiter, it holds it at 3000rpm. Please help.

SOURCE: p1613 fault code & engine will not rev over

Crank sensor or engine speed sensor is faulty.

Irregular power loss on accelerating
The speed of the engine is limited till 2500rpm
Frequent loss of crankshaft position sensor signal

It is caused due to leaking from thermostat housing into crankshaft position sensor harness multi-plug

Check and clean the crankshaft position sensor harness multi-plug contacts. Rectify the engine coolant leak from the thermostat housing if found. Take a note of the engine coolant level and monitor it for changes, showing a leak is indeed occurring.

Daihatsu terios 2007 OD light flashing p1706

Got a book to your vehicle? Sounds like a sensor or switch either on the engine or transmission. In your book look at any switch or sensor associated with the 1706 code. Usually, when a code is thrown the code is meant to narrow down possible problems. Sometimes in the code reader book there will be some given parts associated with a specific code. However, to me--this sounds like a transmission shift module or throttle rpm communication problem.

I hope this helps.

Daihatsu sirion 1999-issue-not keeping idle,

Most times engine surging is caused by a manifold vaccuum leak. Lightly spray some carburetor cleaner around the intake manifold and vaccuum lines to check for a leak.
