You can try taking out the spark plugs, pour about 2 oz of marvels mystery oil in the cylinders, and let sit over night. Try turning it over in the morning. This may or may not work.

Sounds like the motor is frozen. Remove all plugs and see if the starter can turn over the engine . If not that baby is seized if you are sure that the battery is good. Granted, I can understand your chagrin since to the best of your knowledge that engine did not over heat. Get another diagnosis and cross your fingers.

Car was running fine. had battery disconnected & reconnected. Key will not turn in ignition switch. getting a reading that says steering lock malfunction, stop car safely

Hi Doug...

Not currently all up on Saabs...
Many years since I worked on one...

but reading the owners manual (ALL 288 Pages)... has convinced me your configuration is fairly close to the BMW ...
(with which I am FAMILIAR).

Even though you have a "chip" key...
the lock still ought to work manually.

Battery NOT your trouble...
That would definitely give you OTHER problems
(specifically key "NOT RECOGNIZED").

On other cars ... I have experienced a similar issue caused by the steering column holding the lock lever from releasing:
If the wheels are turned against a curb... or hard in any direction... TURN THE WHEEL HARD (just "hard"... as in steering... no Samsonite Gorilla here) in THAT SAME DIRECTION and try to wiggle the key in the lock as you attempt to turn it... then try against that direction... again "HARD".

Failing that... jack up the front of the car until you can see some free-play in the steering wheel... by pushing the front tire back and forth... then try the key.

Hope this helps

Mitsubishi mirage 1996 immobilizer wiring layout

what is goal, move car 10 feet or 10 miles>
we can not guess goals.
but you can unlock the parking shifter. right?
but there are 3 locks.
  1. park lock
  2. steering lock
  3. and ENGINE EFI lock outs.

to move any car no key you must defeat #1 and 2.
number 1 is easy the console , park defeat lever. gets you to neutral easy.
the steering is big problem huh? no key
if you can get it to neutral, you can push any car.
but turning is an issue.
having only 1 key invites this. , if you had even 1 spare metal key
the steering would be free.

Audi A6 2000 wont start

you have lost the immobilizer code. have you tried ignition to number 2 with lights on and press fob to lock then unlock doors. then try to start the engine. a flat battery for to long can wipe the code of the fob and ecu link if the battery has been off or flat for a to long period. only way to repair lost codes is a tec2 and your pass code for your vehicle. and if you dont have the pass code it can cost a fair bit to get the code from a dealer as they keep them on file for years then they get put back to back up after then and can take a bit of finding. if you battery in the future if you have a battery fail its best to put a good battery on again as soon as posible to stop this happening again.

SOUND LIKE PROBLEM IN THE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM.IF KEY GETTING STUCK WONT TURN. HAVE GARAGE THAT FIXED YOUR CAR CHECK OUT RESET IGNITION KEY TO THE IMMOBILIZER CONTROL MODULE.BEST TO TAKE TO CADILLAC DEALERSHIP.YOU NEED DIAGNOSTIC GM EQUIPMENT TO WORK ON CADILLACS. MECHANIC WORKED ON YOUR CAR WHEN HE WORKED ON YOUR CAR.HE MORE LIKELY DISCONNECT BATTERY CABLE CAUSING YOUR PCM AND BCM TO LOSE MEMORY.YOU NEED THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM IMMOBILIZER CONTROL MODULE RESET OR REPROGRAM TO THE IGNITION KEYS.

Bmw 523 petrol, immobiliser problem is there a way round this nightmare?,turns over wont start, its an auto cant even push out of the way,

Hi

There is one method you ca try, first ensure the car is unlocked but with the keys out of the car. then disconnect the battery for about 2hrs, overnight if possible. this should reset the car immobiliser and ECU. When putting the battery back on connect the red first then the black i that order.

If no joy get back to me I have a few oher solutions.

Regards and happy new year

hi first question has the car been standing long with the hand brake on !if yes the brake has locked on even if it has not been standing it could still have stuck jack the wheel and using a rubber hammer give the brake drum a slap or two that should free it turn the wheel to check ps while doing this take the park brake off

96Nissan Sentra Drivers side door/trunk locks broken

my 97 had the same problem. if the key fits the lock and will turn the lock but the lock wont open the door then your problem lies in the linkage between the door lock cylinder and the locking mechanism.

if the key fits the lock and the lock wont turn at all, this is what happened to me, then your lock is seized. Ive actually seen this on alot of 95-99 sentras it seems to be some sort of design flaw. what I had to do was to replace the lock cylinder and locate a new key. the locks from a dealer are a little pricy so i went around to salvage yards, every nissan sentra from said year range door locks were all seized, I even tried the 200sx as its the same car but a 2 door, same problem. luckily i found out that the 94 nissan altimas have the same door locks so I dismantled the inside door panel of said altima and snagged both front door lock cylinders. i also got lucky as the key was still in the ignition, replaced both locks and got a key for about 20 bucks. depending on your problem you might need new lock cylinders
