First off, it's NOT the crank position sensor...Unless you've pulled the motor recently!
Get down to Advance Auto Parts and buy a car of "SeaFoam" ($9) and add it to your tank per instructions...drive AT LEAST 100 miles...problem should go away.
If not, your O2 sensor in the exhaust (x3) is faulty...look to spend $200-400 depending on your mechanic...DO NOT GO TO THE DEALER!
Good Luck

Why check engine light comes on then starts to chug if speed reach 60 or accelerated

Have the problem code scanned for proper fix. You can go to advanced auto, Auto zone, ETC, they will scan vehicle as long as the light is on. For free! and tell you the problem code. It could be a cam or crank sensor that is going bad. Good-Day!

2005 pt cruiser has check engine light on repeatedly over past 6 months

Based on what you said, the PCM is about all that is left.
The code is for an intermittent problem with one of the two cam sensors. (intake)
The PCM is loosing the signal at random times.
It is possible a problem exists with the part on the cam that triggers the sensor, and low battery voltage to the PCM can do it.
Nothing to do with the fuel system or the ignition.

I have a 2006 jeep liberty with a p0016 code i have replaced the cam sensor and still have an engine light. it idles fine adn runs fine, but cuts out at 3500 rpm

This code refers to Crankshaft sensor primarily, and camshaft secondarily, but both need to work together, and either one may cause the light to come on. I'd clean and check all connectors to both first and inspect wires for any bad spots, and if none found, replace Crankshaft sensor. Without putting it on a scope and checking pattern, your kind of limited to replacement to cure it.

Malfunction indicator lamp

The Malfunction Indicator Lamp or MIL (Also called the check engine light or service engine soon light) comes on when the on board computer detects an issue with the operation of the engine or transmission.

The best thing to do is to take the vehicle to an auto parts store like Autozone and have them hook up their scan tool to the vehicle and read the code. They can read it, tell you what it is and also tell you what the code means.

If it is pointing to a faulty component or sensor and you replace or repair the component the the light will go off on its own after the computer sees that the malfunction is no longer present.

You can have the code cleared, but if whatever caused the light to come on in the first place is not addressed then it will just come back on eventually.
