1999 100 series land cruiser stuck in 5th gear. Managed to get it out and have driven it only using 4 gears and not wanting to use reverse in case same thing happens. 4000 kms away from home.

5th and reverse use the same shift rail
Around that year, land cruisers had a problem in the construction of the selector fork for 5th gear in that the fork broke away from the boss on the rail
discuss the problem with a transmission specialist
If I remember right the box doesn't have to come out as the fork can be accesd by the removal of the extension housing or transfer case

I was reversing my 1994 toyota hilux went to shift from reverse to first and now stuck in neutral but jammed in gear don't know what gear if you let clutch out it stalls im guessing its in a top gear

remove the 4 bolts holding the gear pivot turret onto the top of the box and using a screw driver select neutral gear ( when all the selector rails line up as one slot)
If it is still in gear when you let the clutch out, a selector fork has become loose on the rail or broken and that means box out for repair

2001 Hyundai Tiburon will not go into 5th or reverse, however it will go into gear 1 to 4

5th and reverse gears are on the same selector rail. It is possible that the selector fork has come loose for the 5th gear or reverse. Remove the gear lever turret section of the box and see if the selector rail is moving gears or the rail itself.

My holden viva 2008 manual cannot put into reverse

as the 5th gear and reverse gear are on the same shifter rail the there may be a problem with the selector fork for reverse gear. Undo the bolts that hold the shifter turret to the box and see if the reverse selector moves when you use a lever to move the rail

My 95 ford escort want go in reverse and pops out of 5

this may be a problem with the 5th gear and reverse selector fork or bearings on the out put shaft and main shaft out put bearing.. AS this section is normally outside the gear box proper check if the rear extension housing can be unbolted and removed with out pulling the gear box. Remove the tail shaft and rear engine mount member and if there are a series of bolts around the housing it should come off revealing the selector fork and gears . Drain the gear box first.

Gear reverse is not working

Reverse and overdrive (5th) gear are on the same selector rail in the gear box. There were some models of Toyota land cruiser that had a weak selector fork and they were prone to breaking. check if you can select 5th gear. If you can then I suspect this to be the problem. It can be repaired in car as the rear extension housing can be removed revealing the failed fork.

I am having trouble getting a 1994 Land Rover defernder 90 into reverse please help

The gears are selected by using one shaft with 3 forks. 1 and 2, 3 and 4 and 5 and reverse. When you move the gearstick to the left for 1 and 2, a notched ( that's all I can think to call it)circle around the shaft turns and engages the fork. When you want 3 and 4 another engages the fork, the same with 5 and reverse.
If the others are selecting, then something has either slipped or is jamming the stick.
If 5 engages, then it should go back to reverse, the same as if 3 engages, it should go back to 4th. If 1 and 2 engage, it seems like something is blocking the bottom of the stick from physically moving. Take the gearstick out first and see if something like the reverse switch has broken away.

Transmission wont go in reverse

Auto or manual,,, if auto it could be linkage or the locking button on lever,, or the reverse band has either broken or worn out
If manual box then its either a burred or worn revers gear,, or Selector shaft ball and spring jamed up but only in a 4speed forward gear box or the reverse gear fork pin has come adrift.
