How to change o ring in control valve in a timberjack skidder

Doesn't say where the O ring is located, if it is between the valve bodies then separate the valve bodies and install new O rings, If it is on the valve spool then remove the spool out of the housing and use a seal pick to change the O ring

1998 850 timberjack feller buncher 6cyl cummins Lots of power to gauges and heater radio but will not start

Diesel I presume. Does it "turn over" but not start? What does exhaust look like when if it does turn over? If white smoke, you have bad compression. Otherwise, all critical systems are Fuel filter. Glow plug system and their timer. Sometimes cycling of the glow plug system in very cold weather may help. If the solenoid engages, but starter will not turn the motor, you may have enough power based on other devices. But it does not necessarily mean there is enough capacity to supply the starter to turn the engine. If the engine turns, Starting fluid may help. But if it does not continue to run, there is definately a fuel supply system problem.

What is serial # of DUETZ engine THAT is in 240A timberjack skidder

Not sure if you mean engine size or not . Each engine has it's own serial number. Anyway the Duetz engines were 130 HP 6 Cylinders. Now Duetz had 912 and 913 engines the 913 was the model with a turbo and they produced these engines in 3,4,5,and 6 cylinders. Most of what I've seen is the 6 - 130 HP. This particular unit was built in the mid 80's or so. Other Timberjacks different models/years, etc, also had 4 cylinder cummings, then some John Deere also. If my memory serves me correct it seems like I ran up on an old Timberjack in the woods hunting one day and it had a Detroit 353 in it. Great little engines.

What would cause my hydraulics to keep heating up on a 648g3 skidder?

Friction is usually the cause of hydraulic overheating. Every time the hydraulic oil moves through the system the moving of the hydraulic fluid against the hoses, pumps, cylinders , etc. creates friction. Any restrictions such as valves or filters can be hot spots because of the friction created as the passages get smaller the fluid moves faster creating more friction. Friction = Heat.
I would check the filters to make sure they are clean. Check the valves to make sure they are opening fully. Check hoses for any kinks or pinched spots.Try to operate the skidder at the lowest r.p.m. need for the work being done. Over revving can also cause heat buildup.
Hope this helps.

You want a diagram for the rear back brakes as opposed to the rear front brakes? Just curious....

Here is a diagram of a typical GM rear drum brake system.

Need diagram for rear drum brakes on 2004 mercury sable

Try using a Web search and use Photos for the word Diagram. If you use Diagram, most likely all you will get is a linear Diagram similar to a wiring Diagram and of no use to you.
Drum brakes are easy, just take off the rubber adjuster cover and tweak the STAR wheel to collapse the brakes and make them narrower. Sometimes you may have to loosen the Emergency brake cable because it cantilevers the only brakes you have in the rear wheel. (Unlike a Rotor which has 2 brake systems inside of each rear wheel.)
