Question about 1992 Ford Ranger
Have only been working on temp gauge. i did dissconet the one wire on temp gauge sensor and ground the wire out and got the temp gauge to move. So that is why I changes the sensors but temp gauge still does not work

the intake air temperature sensor is located inside the air intake duct which is where the air filter is located pull the rubber tubing off the throttle body and look inside with a light and you will see it

When you grounded the wire which goes to the sensor you produced a short to ground thru the guage. This probably either blew a fuse or burned out the meter.

Why do you need to know where the temp sensor is. It sounds like it is working properly. Check for thermostat not opening completely, or a clogged radiator.
