1992 ford ranger 3.0. Temp and fuel gauges dont work. I have replaced all gauges and temp gauge sensor, thermostat, another heat sensor by termostat with no results. Not sure what to check next?

Have only been working on temp gauge. i did dissconet the one wire on temp gauge sensor and ground the wire out and got the temp gauge to move. So that is why I changes the sensors but temp gauge still does not work

SOURCE: I have a 1998 ford ranger and the temperture gauge

When you grounded the wire which goes to the sensor you produced a short to ground thru the guage. This probably either blew a fuse or burned out the meter.

SOURCE: temp gauge pegs left and a/c when runs overheats engine

Why do you need to know where the temp sensor is. It sounds like it is working properly. Check for thermostat not opening completely, or a clogged radiator.

I have a 02 Grand caravan that has new radiator, termostat, one new fan. the temp gauge goes up to max hot the drops right back down in seconds. what could be the problem?

it could be you have an air lock in the cooling system
remove the rad cap from the rad, start the engine and let it run until the coolant drops (add to fill it back up) or until the coolant boils out of the rad spout.

maybe pull the heat sensor. -replace it OR clean it off, reinstall it.

Temperature gauge cold then back to normal

You have to make sure the thermostat is working properly and is the correct one. Idle the vehicle for about 20 minutes and then feel the upper radiator hose. It should be hot to the touch. Drive the vehicle and when the temp gauge falls to 'cold' stop and feel it again. If it is much cooler to the touch than before the thermostat is defective or wrong.

Fuel gauge/temp gauge not working

There are two sensors, one for ECU temp. readings with two pin connector and other one with only one wire, which has been probably disconnected when you replaced the CPC solenoid - very close position.

Temp gauge stay on cold.

Switch ig. on, ground the sender unit wire for about 3 seconds see if the temp. gauge moves, if so change sender unit, if not then it is a faulty gauge reader.
