2004 Impala with 120K miles. The temperature

2004 Impala with 120K miles. The temperature light comes on during slow driving, but indicator returns to normal during highway driving. Is that car actually over heating, or does the thermostat merely need to be replaced? Thanks.

My 2004 duramax engine temperature never reaches above 185 degrees weather low on anti-freeze or not. I have a chronic low coolant level message even when the resevoir still has some in the bottom. System...

Thermostat could be stuck open, not allowing your engine to heat up to normal operating temperature in the time it should. If it will not go above 185 after driving or idling for long periods of time, then you may have a bad temperature sensor. After driving awhile, the temperature should come up, regardless if the thermostat is open. If your actual radiator does not have a cap where you can fill it, your only option is to use the overflow tank. Hope this helps...

Security light has come on while driving the car 2004 chevrolet impala

You must have the dealer scan the VATS system, the light indicates a fault is present, the scan will give a code that the tech at the dealer will diagnose and repair. Failure to heed this warning light will likely end up in an engine no start.

After driving my car 2006 chevy impala for about 20 miles the dashboard warning light oil pressure low stop engine and the oil warning light appears, but if step on break or slow down it goes out..wha

Verify that the engine has the proper amount of oil. The inertia from accelerating may be moving the oil in the oil pan away from the sensor and causing it to send a signal, then when you slow the oil levels out and the sensor go's off. I've had this happen alot with a taurus that I owned. The simple solution was to top off the oil to the correct level and the sensor did not come on again (until it ran low again, had a leaky oil plug on oil pan).

2004 Chev Impala, temp gauge registers hot while stopped at light, will return to normal temp while driving. Fluid is rust colored and "gooey". The same for the overflow. I drained and flushed with Peak,...

Unless you replace the water pump you are going around in circles. When you drive you have the natural air-flow thru the radiator and water circulastion will occur ie hot water rises cooler water sinks. If you havn't already damaged the cylinder head your lucky .White gooey residue on dip stick or oil filler cap will be an indication of this. Rust colored water indicated the adsence of inhibitors or coolant fluid and internal corrosion will be a consideration .

Heating problem

Yes that is cool if it's correct. 195 F is low as you should have. I'd change it. Be sure to run with cap off, and heater on (not defrost) while refilling system. Wait for rad fan to come on 2 or 3 times before you put cap back on, then add coolant to return bottle as needed. Make sure rad fan only comes on when up to normal running temperature. If it runs all the time, it may be causing low coolant temperature too.
