Question about 2008 Lincoln Navigator

1 Answer

Air ride sensors and lower ball joints have gone bad in my 2004 lincoln navigator. I can wiggle the three senors and the air ride error message will disappear, but returns when riding over bumpy roads. REplaced drivers side front, but the problem persists and the left rear will drop from time to time.

Are the sensors or connections dirty? I would clean them. You can also use a pliers and tighten the female end of sensor and place it back in the connector.

Correct. Replace them all at the same time as you will need to track steering after replacing ball joints. Check rubber anti roll bushings when your at it,

As long as the system does not leak down, and the body stays up off the wheels, yes you can.

2004 Lincoln Navigator when making slow turn wheel fully turned in either direction the truck comes to a complete stop while in gear. I have to press the gas hard to move. I had a strutmasters kit...

check and adjust the turn stops so that a turn angle of 20 degrees is the maximum
It is possible that with the changed suspension that the steering on full turn is making the wheels at such an angle that the vehicle is trying to push the wheel sideways instead of rolling it around the corner

Why the air ride system keeps running when ignition is off on a 2002 lincoln navigator

It may be that your leveling sensor is going bad. The sensor thinks the bag is low on air, even with the key off.

2004 Lincoln nave, rear wheels jacked up high, front wheels normal, rides real rough??? any thoughts???? Thanks,

Replace the air suspension with conventional shock/strut
conversions. The Air Ride System is not worth investing
time and money ,after the vehicle is 5 years old.
Too expensive to maintain ,and too difficult to diagnose

Next time buy the Ford version of the vehicle

AIR SUSPENSION NOT RISING

Under the hood there is an air compressor to fill the air bags on the suspension. With age the compressor draws excessive amps and blows the fuse. Check the fuse and see if it has popped. If so replace it. If the fuse is good ,locate the compressor and check the electrical plug to it to see if it has become corroded. If corroded pull the fuse and scrub the contacts with a brass brush untill clean. To keep it from corroding in the future apply some dieletric grease to the contacts and plug it back in. hope that helps, Rich.

Lincoln navigator air suspension

A lot of problems, with that system
If your keeping the vehicle, swap out the air shocks, for conventional
Do not go to a dealer. People on this site, are spending $4000.00, and the dealers, still are unable to repair.

Dealer want to change my lower ball joints on my lincoln 2004 towncar for $1100 any cheaper way and is it dangares

I've done front end work. You may need a ball joint press, to remove the lower ball joint off the lower control arm and install or press the new one on. The upper ones you will have to chisel the the tops of the riviets off and drill though them unless they're on with nuts and bolts. It is easier to have the upper control arm off the car to do this also because the upper control bushings may need replacing also. You can get those off with a air chisel and on with a vise and a 5 pound sledge hammer and a sleeve on the bushing.(They make a bushing press which is better.) If you don't have air take the upper arms to a muffler shop. Before I had air, I took my arms to a local tire shop, he took the old ones off and put the new ones on for $20.
