Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

I have a 2005 dodge magnum 2.7 liter . I have rough idle or it dies at the traffic lights. Now it just looses power when the rpms drop below 2000. You can push on the gas but it won't go. I've replaced the ecm/pcm twice thinking I had received a bad one . But not 2 bad ones. I was told to clean my idle air control valve or motor, but for the life of me, I can't find it. I've found pictures of what it should look like, but not the actual part. Help

2002 dodge ram 4.7 rough idle and sometimes dies at red lights or stopped in traffic i cleaned throttle body no change could it be my map sensor going bad? Can i clean it? Where is it located

Check for any vacuum leaks from loose/disconnected/swollen hoses under the hood. Is the check engine light on? If so, scan the codes to see if any sensors may be suspect before guessing

Hi Andre, I'm AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair in St Charles Mo

I look forward to helping you with your problem.

Andre, the red light you see when it stalls is normal because that light will always be on when the engine is not running. Here's what it sound like you issue is. You could have 2 issues. (1) The most likely is a vacuum leak. Here's how to check it for a vacuum leak. Buy a can of spray carb cleaner, have a friend keep the engine running while you spray around the intake manifold and throttle body. When the engine dies then you have found the area the leak is in. (2) The Idle Air Control Motor could be bad not allowing it to idle up when you stop causing it to die. Have your friend keep the engine running again and tap on the motor with a wrench or something similar, and after tapping it a few time see if it will idle, if it does you need a motor. 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 Engine. Starts fine, Idles fine, but when engine shifts into high gear and RPM lowers engine runs really rough under load

Have you checked for a broken valve spring. Repaired a dodge engine with the same running issue as you have described and it was a broken intake valve spring.

I meant how do you replace an egr sensor in a 2005 rendezvous?

A faulty egr would not create a high idle issue. if an egr valve were to open while idling then it would create a heavy stumbling engine or it would die right out. if there is a check engine light on (or service engine soon light) have the codes pulled. Failing that then I suggest taking it to a reputable shop

05 Dodge Magnum went from 60 - 0mph in 0.0 seconds flat!!!

Sounds like you need a new key to me. When they start and die like that, the security system is not seeing a good key. This has to be done at a Dodge or Chrysler dealership. They can cut a new key and fob combo their as well as program them with their scan tool. It will cost about $200.00 to do this. The two cranks to start is a weak fuel pressure regulator. Probably located on the the fuel pump. May be serviced seperate now from the fuel pump assembly. Ask the dealer they will know.

2005 Dodge Magnum w/out hemi stalling

I have a 2005 Magnum and was also having this problem. Stalled out a few times and continued to idle rough and feel like it was going to die when I would slow down. At times it would feel like I would get a hesitation and then a surge. Engine light would go on for a day or so, then go out for a few days. First time I took it in, the dealership told me that it was a broken seal (I don't know where), but they replaced it and it continued to happen. The second time I took it to a mom & pop shop, and they told me that it was the oxygen sensor/altimeter, replaced it (only a $35 part), and I haven't had a problem since. That was 6 months ago. Hope this helps...
