Place a socket spanner on the crank shaft pully and if you can turn the motor over its ok. If it cannot be turned there is water in the cylinders. If all is ok check the starter motor is not locked on the ring gear.
Have injectors or glow plugs removed and crank engine if water cones out. your engine might have experienced overheating and you have a blown gasket or a cracked cylinder and allows water into one or more cylinders.

check the feed on the back of the alternator (live), then check the engine earth if the truck has been lifted or raised the earth will be poor. try running an earth fron the exhaust studs to a chassis member.

sounds to me that you have an igniton problem not a starter problem and or if you have or had an alarm system could be cause if u do give me feedback and i will explain but seems that your starter is fine from what u say but if you think in terms of the elemts to start a vehicle batery gives pwoer to ignition which sends to starter which gives spark etc i would check you ignition system something is causeing a short and not alowing starter to function

Injectors could be blocked but i would go with an injector pump or fuel pump.

It is NORMAL for the engine computer to have to "Relearn" how to idle the engine after a battery replacement. This should only be temporary and will go away after a few trips.
If it does not go away, or if the Check Engine light is coming on, it will require diagnosis to determine the cause. Nobody can tell you if the problem is related to your recent work until the cause of the problem is located.
Poor idling and stalling on deceleration can be caused by anything from a bad Idle Speed Control motor (ISC)
to low fuel pressure (Clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump) to a bad connection in the A/C clutch sensing circuit. (Kicks the idle up when the A/C compressor is running)
