one good way to check that the fuel pump is running to listen. take the gas cap of and put you ear the the fuel tank fill neck. have a freind turn the key from the off position to the on position, but do not start the crank the engine over. you should hear a huming or wizzing sound for a few short moments. if you hear that sound the pump is running and more thatn likely pumping fuel.

These are unrelated problems. The battery to your truck is probably dead.

could be a bad fuel pump...when you first turn on the key in the mornings in a quiet setting you should be able to hear a humming noise coming from your fuel tank it might only last 4 to 5 seconds this is the prime for the fuel rail going to injectors..if you dont hear this, i would take it to a shop to confirm. usually on most cars there is a dedicated fuel prime wire that you can hook up twelve volts to confirm that the pump is working, if the pump is working then it will be a lot easier fix.. because it might only be a fuse or relay that is causing the problem.

you might have a bad connection or bad wires bad ground the first thing you have to do is see if you are getting 12 volts to the thick red wire on the starter then when someone is turning the key the small red or purple wire should get 12 volt
