Question about 1996 Chevrolet Corsica
What the other person purposed I believe works only for the diagnostic codes on some OBDII computers.(shutting off power for 5 minutes) but I am told that the ABS system is a complete subsystem from the dianogstic codes and reflects a seperate entity. As you know braking system is serious business and if you had it repaired and items replaced what does the repair shop say why the light is still on? I had a friend say the dealer told him the ABS light was on because there was a module in the sytem that failed. The dealer told him you do have brakes and we replaced what was wromg but the ABS system is not working. If you want the ABS system to work he would have to replace the computer at approx cost of $1500.00 but the car was functional just that the ABS was not working. As previously stated braking is serious business and if something is not working I wonder if there is hidden manufacture warranty still in effect? Various states are a little more consumer friendly and go after problems like these. This is not a solution but a little more information in order to hopefully make an informed decision.

On vehicles equipped with antilock brakes (ABS), a second warning light is provided to warn if a problem occurs within the ABS system. The ABS lamp comes on when the ignition is turned on for a bulb check, then goes out after the engine starts. If the ABS warning light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a fault has occurred in the ABS system.
What happens next depends on the nature of the fault. On most applications, the ABS system disables itself if the ABS warning light comes on and remains on.
