Question about 1995 Ford Thunderbird
Why does the battery indicator lamp come on when i start my 95 thunderbird, it has the fluid coming from the top of the battery, why do i have to check the electrical system,
Sounds like 2 problems.. 1. don't buy "rebuilt" batteries.. The fluid comning out implys that the battery is being overcharged by the alternator..(Or the battery is overfilled) couple of possibilities .. 1, the alternator has shorted out and is putting our really excessive voltage.. say like 20+ volts.. you can check this with a volt meter..(Don't have one?? they are real cheap at Harbor Freight Tools)) Should not be over 14.6 volts.. #2. The battery was "rebuilt" wrong and is only a 10volt battery instead of a 12 v battery in which case 14.6 v would be too many for it. I have not seen a "reconditioned/rebuilt" battery in years.. last one i saw was in southern Mexico about 20 years ago.

If you pull out your gauge cluster, behind it you will find the bulbs for the dash lights.
might be the problem...7mm socket and extension required..

check the connections at the battery, make shure there is no corrosion, also check that the ground wire from the bat to the engine is in good. if you have an ohm meter check the wires themselves, should show no resistance, please rate my fix, check back if you need more help Ray

Its probably the alternator. It will need to be tested on the vehicle with the engine running and the light illuminated. Measure the battery voltage with the engine running. It should be at least 13.5 volts. If it is lower have the alternator tested at a shop with a charging system tester.
