The only thing you can do is take the plastic cover off and visually inspect it to see what is actually broke and repair it. the only other option is to call around to your local savage yards and find a matching seat and replace it. please rate my answer :-)

SOURCE: Replace rear passanger seat belt mechanism

The mechanism is located behind the plastic cover on the door side. You'll need to remove this trim piece to get at it. It's held on by screws. When you get to the mechanism it is held on by a torx bolt.
Good luck

SOURCE: hey i have a hyundai

Look for two bolts a the bottom of the panel. One for each side. If there are no bolts then they clip on you will have to pop them off start at the bottom.

Passanger side fold down rear seat will noy unlatch

Check from behind the seat to see that the lever actually moves the latch free. Usually it is like a cam locking on notches that hold the seatback up.

My 06 malibu rear seat will not go down due to stuck switch

Push on the seat to the rear while pulling the cable release. Sounds like latch is adjusted too tight. If this works make adjustment before putting the seat back up. Open trunk & you should also be able to get to the speakers and the latch for the seat back. May require a screwdriver or something narrow & long to push on the latch arm while another person pushes & pulls the seat back to unlatch.

I have a 4 door 2000 Chevy Malibu and the back seat is supposed to fold down to make a larger cargo area. I believe the latch is located on the trunk side of the back seat but I can't find it. Can anybody...

I have one and after climbing allll over the car, its in the trunk. 2 strings you can hook your fingers through. you pull on them. They are located at the front, just where the trunk hinges open, in the middle. I was annoyed by the "should" answers because I still had to crawl all over my back seat and then finally into the trunk before I just randomly started pulling and pushing things haha.

2007 Tahoe 3rd row right seat will not fold

I solved the problem by spraying WD40 into the front side of the seat support that was sticking. This support has a rubber closure to protect the mechanics of the seat. After spraying a generous amount of WD40, I waited about 5 minutes and tried the lever to fold the seat. It worked and still does.

How does the back seat fold up in a 98 chevy pick up ext cab?

There is a little loop of material hanging under the seat on both sides, pull this towards the front of the truck and the seat will unlatch to fold up.

Cant fold down the rear seat in our 1997 Chevy Tahoe

in the middle of the seat cushions in the back of the seat there is a little loop, pull that loop forward and that will have the seat's bottom pulled down to the floor agains the back of the front seats. Next simply apply a lil muscle to the back of the back seats and the seats should fold down nicely into the open space. Be sure to remove the headrests so the seat will fold all the way down. post any issues u may have.

2001 olds alero rear seats

There shouls be 2 straps inside the trunk at the top. Both on the driver side but one is for the left side and one for the right side seats. Pulling on the straps releases the 'lock' that should then allow you to pull down the seats from the back seat area.
