Hello, It should actually be an oil sending unit, and is located on the back of the intake manifold to the left of the distributor. *The P0523 is Oil Pressure Sending Unit Voltage too high *P1693 Generic fault indicating a fault in the bus or PCM/ECM interface *P1682 - I can't find this code Anyways, I will post here all the error codes for future reference. How to fix p0523


Most of the time its is the oil pressure sensor that fails, with that code. The oil pressure gauge in the dash might be peg to the right too.

My check engine light came on and oil gauge reads zero. DTC code is P0523 "engine oil pressure switch/high voltage. Do I just need to replace the pressure switch?


was it at 0 while it was running, did you check the oil? i wouldn't start drive it like that without being sure its still pumping oil...

The oil pressure on my jeep grand cherokee 99 is zero I look for the diagnostic trouble code and is P0523 what that means? it is the oil pressure sending unit or the oil pump?


Possible causes - Low oil level or motor mechanical fault
- Open or short oil level sensor circuit condition
- Poor oil level sensor electrical connection
- Faulty oil pressure sensor

Error codes


P0523 means the Oil pressure voltage to high. Your Oil pressure sensor may need to be replaced. P1682 means your charging system is to low. Your voltage regulator may be going bad or the whole alternator. p1693 means a Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has been detected in the ECM or PCM which is related to the above DTC P0XXX codes.
