Hello Kyle. On High Revs when having backfire you might have more rich mixture ( more fuel into air ) going through the carb ventury. check the spark plugs and their gap. Also if you do have contact points check for the correct gap. Also by using a timing light check you the timing if is in advance timing.

2002 neon revs up to 4000rpms at start and idles up an ddown 1500rpms-2000rpms after. and begins to backfire near engine .

Is your check engine light on? Check the throttle body or maybe the accelerator pedal is bad.

Blue light started flashing what is wrong


Hi, has the weather just turned colder? The Beetle has a blue warning light to tell you that the engine temperature is low. Meaning drive the car at lower speeds/revs until it's warmed up and the light go's out. Hope that helps, Matt.

2004 BEETLE WILL NOT REV PAST 3500 RPM in gear or neutral


Hi it sounds like you need the throttle cable replacing or adjusting it can be adjusted to a certain amount but it may be that it has stretched over time and needs replacing.
If the car runs ok other than not revving up properly then the chances are it will be the cable and nothing else.

I was driving my 1999 beetle and it just stop moving. The engine stayed running but the car wouldn't move. Any suggestions?


may have bad gas pedal sensor, or throtle body motor, thats only if you step on gas pedal and engine wont even rev up, if it rev then possible trany problems.

check your timing belt; if the engine camshaft is not "in time" with the crankshaft... backfiring will occur.

Fuel pump pressure


Hi..
The fuel Pressure for your Beetle. with 2.0 L.
Is 36 Psi. engine idling.
43 to 55 engine off.

If you Spray fuel in the throttly. and keep running.
But if Only start and die.
Check the factory alarm.
Check if you have the right KEY.
The KEY on this car use a CHP inside. to prevent the car to be start with out the right key.
If the key is BLACK and look like use chip.
Check the Red LIGHT on the driver door or cluster , if the light is Flashing the SYSTEM is activated try to desactivate with the KEY on the DRIVER door lock Cylinder. if the light goes off
Try to start the car.
If your car is not equipated with CHIP. see if the light is ON or OFF.

Ok. I hope this help to diagnostic your car.....
