Most likely they control mechanism is a bit stiff/dry , if the roof will move forward spray wd40 up each side runners etc go back and forwards a bit at a time ,this should lubricate the mechanism and hope fully save ypou having the roof stripped out to solve the problem

Testimonial: "This did not help. The mechanism seems to be froze up. Plenty of lubricant there. Glass is out and the arms in the back are stuck not letting the back come on down."

Tip

2002 Jaguar XType Sun-roof one-touch operations reset

I had this issue and found the solution around, worth sharing and it takes 30 seconds:

Press the sunroof switch forward to move the sliding roof panel into the tilted position.

Release the sunroof switch.

Press and hold the sunroof switch forward until the sliding roof panel moves slightly. This may take 30 seconds or more.

Release the sunroof switch.

Immediately press and hold the sunroof switch in the forward position. The sliding roof panel will move down and rearward to the open position, and then forward into the closed position. Do not release the sunroof switch until the sliding roof panel has stopped completely.

Your sunroof panel should now be aligned.

2006 honda ridgeline sunroof is stuck, will nor close tightly

Most common problem for sunroofs is debris like acorns, twigs, ect stuck in the track on the sunroof. Also, check for bent warped, or other out of place things causing the sunroof to reach it's limit causing it to shut down before closed completely. Remember, power windows, sunroofs, back glasses, nearly everything powered by an electric motor has a limit switch to protect if from damage.

I have a sunroof that only works by holding the button down not automatic any more on a 2002 x type jag

That happens when you turn off the key switch, before the sunroof closes or opens at full, try this, with the key power switch in on, run manually full to open and return to close, then, exactly when the sunroof is fully closed, turn off at the same time the key switch, maybe you need to try more than once, must be exactly at the same time. good luck

My 97 xj6 sunroof is not working it is 1/4-1/2 in from fully closed can I manually close it last bit?

yes. that is if the cables are not completely shredded. your car came with a tool that sort of looks like a figure "S". the roof center panel in front of sunroof pops off. you can then fit the tool into the socket and manually turn until roof is closed. (you can find this info in the owners manual)

2001 Jaguar S Type 4.0 Sunroof trouble

You have plastic gears in the roof mech that tend to chip and break over time.

Take plenty of photos as you go and take your time.

Im sure you will be able to find a solution .
