Sounds like the resistor block that controls your blower motor has started to go.this is a replace only to fix this problem.Go along to your local parts store and see if you can get a new one,if not its to the dealer. With the new part in hand go under the dash on the passenger side, and look for a loom of wires that will be close to the blower motor. The resistor block will be in the air box somewhere( for cooling purposes) and is usually held on with two screws. disconnect the wires first then remove the block.reverse for install.good luck

Testimonial: "At first the blower was working on all settings but high, eventually it went allo together. I replaced the resistor but I am back to where the high is the only one that does not work...does the high work direct from the battery..or...?"

The high is the only one that gets a full battery voltage routed through the switch.I would check the feed from the switch to the block. For this you are going to need a multi meter.a cheap one will do,that will tell you if it is the switch that is funky.good luck

SOURCE: heater blower switch only works on high

I'd replace blower resistor, usually found under hood on firewall on passenger side, or on duct work, inside under dash on passenger side, close to blower motor.

SOURCE: my 2003 jeep wrangler AC/heat fan doesn't blow any air out.

You can test both of them once you have it apart. I have given you instruction below. Please follow them as injury could result.

REMOVAL
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE BATTERY NEGATIVE (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

CAUTION: Stay clear of the blower motor and resistor block (Hot). Do not operate the blower motor with the resistor block removed.

Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the glove box from the instrument panel (Refer to 23 - BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/GLOVE BOX - REMOVAL).
Pull out the lock on the blower motor resistor wire harness connector to unlock the connector latch (Blower Motor Resistor Block- Typical).
Depress the latch on the blower motor resistor wire harness connector and disconnect the connector from the resistor.
Remove the two screws that secure the blower motor resistor block to the HVAC housing.
Remove the resistor block from the HVAC housing.

SOURCE: i have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler and the heater fan

If you bypass the resistor pack and connect the motor directly to the fused 12v supply then the fan should run at maximum speed. If so, it's the resistor pack that's blown: a very common fault on a huge number of makes and models.

My 1998 Jeep Wrangler Heater Motor only has one speed High. Nothing on any of the lower ones, no matter on ac or heat. What could be the problem?

This is 100% the Blower (Fan) Motor Resistor located near the Blower Motor.
This is a very common problem with Chyrsler, Dodge, Jeep and Plymouth. The key symptom is the Fan only working on High.
This is very easy to access and replace.

Let me know if this helped....

Have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler, Rubicon and the hear/AC blower fan only comes on in the high position. The other setting low, med and med/high the blower will not come on. Is this the controller it self?...

The problem usually stems with the blower motor resistor, high speed by-passes it and there-fore the controller is sending power but the resistor has gone open and the speeds can't be regulated.

Variable fan was only working on high for ac now not blowing

if fan speed is working only on one speed it is most likely the blower resister, located in the blower box

you need to change the resister block for the fan. it is located on the heater duct near the fan... there is a connector on it and two or three screws holding it in.

Wrangler jeep heater/AC fan

Usually, when the fan works only on high speed the issue is with the blower motor resistor. It will be located under the dash close to the blower motor itself. It will have a multi-wire plug and feeds signal to the blower motor. An updated resistor maybe available in which case a slightly larger hole will have to be cut for the new resistor. This is not a difficult proceedure, only a couple of screws are holding the resistor in place and most resistors are resonably priced. I recommend you buy the resistor at the dealer, this is a case where you get what you pay for.
Good luck, hope this helps.
