Question about 2001 Dodge Stratus
I have a 2001 dodge stratus and i got in and then started the car it ran fine for a sec then engine light came on i tried to drive it to the auto shop but it is stuck in second . the speedometer and tach works fine, and i need some help here.
Transmission is in limp mode. This enables you to drive the car to service. Anytime there is a transmission code in the computer even if nothing is wrong it will stay in limp mode until the code is erased. Most retail auto parts stores will run an obd2 diagnostic scan to determine the problem and erase existing codes, no charge (Auto Zone, Advance and others)

Testimonial: "but does clearing the codes help no cuz it comes right back lol i need to pinpoint the issue not generally say "well it could be this" and thx for the reply"
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have had the same problem before. Everything you have said matches the exact problems I had. I was also driving down the road when my problems started. My speedometer stop working and my car wouldn't shift out of 2nd. I had a family friend who is a mechanic check it out. He hooked it up to the computer and it ended up being the Turbine Sensor. However you would want to hook it up and find out exactly which sensor it might be because there is another sensor that can cause that problem as well. I think this happend to me about a year ago but the part costed maybe around $30 or $40.

We have the same proplem and replaced the sensor didnt help. Could there be another reason the car will do this? ( this was the one on the front right side of transmission).

it may be going into limp mode if the computer sees a problem, usally the speedometer isn't working or the output sensor is faulty,if it is in limp mode, turning the key off then back on will reset the computer

Good Evening, I have a dumb question. have you cleared any current or history codes in the transmission? They will default with codes in the system. Also make note on what they are. If any and we can go from there, and yes tcm would be the next place to go but more info is best as far as codes and such.
