What could be the problem with my headlights.

I have DRL's,tail lights, side markers and dash lights but my headlights will not come on. The highbeams will work if I flash while the DRL's are on. Any ideas?

Have you checked the bulbs themselves, they tend to burn out often. Also check headlight fuses in underhood fuse box. if all is well you will need to check combo switch

Sounds like a fuse or relay ,have you checked the fuse box drivers side lower dash for headlight fuse(s) also in engine bay there is another fuse box with relays ,list will be on the cover ,i'd start there as power is going to bulb on one circuit , other than that the switch may not be working fully

SOURCE: Where is the DRL Module on a 2003 Sunfire?

Fuse panel left side of dash. It's not a typical module it's only a relay. Your instrument cluster has a microprocessor which energizes the relay. In another post someone said there is a resistor behind right headlamp that could be your problem, I haven't as of yet checked the schematics to confirm but sounds right.

Do you have tail ligts and side marker lights with drls on? if so you will have only dim headlights. Check fuses, I think the headlights are fused seperately.

Headlights go out

If your Highbeam Switch is on your streering colum (turn signal lever) Thats where I would start too look! It could be the wires to the highbeam switch. I had that happen on my ford. But if the highbeam switch is on the floor, check for a bad circut connection and if that checks ok it might be your main headlight switch! Even though you may not loose your highbeams, your main headlight power still runs through that highbeam switch, and being on the colum thats why the would start to function when you move the shifter.

Headlights stopped working

it is your DRL module they malfunction and therefore your headlights stop working. i disconnected my relay located in the dash where your radio is and i can then manually turn them on the only problem with that is that i cannot locate the module itself

Highbeams

Are you sure it's your high beam and not your DRL. Your DRL light will always be on through the day when you do not have your lights on. Indicating that your drl's are on. DRL (Daytime Running Lights) are your high beam headlights at a low wattage. The only other sympton could be that you have a burnt out headlight and this is telling you so, by having the H.B. light on. on your dash.

Dash light do not come on but lights do for drl on 2005 chev equinox

DRL (Daytime Running Lights) will come on any time you start your car.
The dash lights do not come on, unless your headlights turn on. Either by a daylight sensor or if you manually turn them on by the switch.
So even though your headlights are on with the DRL, if you notice the tail lights do not come on (just like the dash lights don't).

To test if your dash lights do work, turn your headlight switch on. You should the the tail lights and dash lights come on.
