Have the Throttle Position Sensor checked, it also controls shift points.

Well I mainly do preventative maintenance and on almost always are ahead, and never had to get there. Well I have dealt with a similar situation more than once successfully! I use thing that works, but is cases where parts are long gone, it still does a bit, and changes are seen as you drive!
If you have not yet replace the Tranny Lubricant, it would be a good time too. If you did, here is something that you can get that is no myth (NANO Energizer), you buy a 30ml pouch of NANO-E, and with the vehicle just back from a run and hot. Shave the NANOe making sure that all of the particles are melted inside its pouch, and then pour the contents into the Transmission, and install the dip-stick in place, start the engine and drive for about 15-20 minutes, and back. From that moment, until about 50K miles, Nano will constantly be working (even if you change tranny fluids), it will be on the entire internal (not in the lubricant), it will be getting better by the miles, with an entirely coated Platinum/Ceramic coat that re-build and repair as much as it can and depending on ware of the past. But its your best help and protection and wort every drop (do not waste-it). Go to your local Parts store, and get yourself a LUCAS Transmission Fix 24oz but will need to remove some Tranny fluid and pour all of the 24 oz in (Two days after NANOe), and You will see the difference, NANOe would not be present in your oil almost immediately, it would be doing its job, and need you to drive as much and for years. Florida or not. I am in Florida too!

Ailyn,
Are you talking about your transmission shifting on the 2004 Malibu? If so, if it's making a clunking noise, try this.. Start the car let it warm up, then place the car in D with brakes applied hard rev the engine to about 2000 RMP for about 10 secs. do the same for R. Do this about 3 or 4 times. Take it out for a drive and see if that fixed the problem. It worked for me, what this does is tighten up the bands in the transmission.

If the weather was issue it would be from the map air cinser . More then likely from the Trans bands that get worn , Could also be a Modulator on side of transmission. Really only way to tell is take to tranny shop and let chech out. When you do that you can let me know the price they give you and make sure they not trying to rip you off. Good luck on it.

Disc brake noise during cold weather

unfortunately if the truck is equipped with ceramic pads.... well there is the draw back, its a trade off.. like a semi truck, most of them are noisey coming to a stop. lots of weight with a lot of friction causes a vibration thats annoying.SO 1) You could opt for softer material in the brake pads, which would directly relate to a more frequent pad change, but the noise will be gone, and 2) you could try to drive a little ways at about 35 mph and just REST your foot on the brake pad for approximately 1/4 mile then come GENTLY to a stop. procedeure called burnishing.2 times should be plenty, and give the brakes a chance to cool beore the second burnish,( about 3 to 4 mins of cool time) let me know what happens, and good luck!

You may have a case of morning sickness. in a transmission they are seals the are bad and leak fluid past them. causing a shifting problem when cold as fluid warms up seals swell and your pressures increase allowing a better shift.

well the problem could be that you have a window down because bmw 7 series have the motion detector in the cars and wind can trip off the alarm. that could be the only thing i can think of that can be the problem. just try rolling up all the windows and close the sun roof.

Sluggish gear shift on 5-spd Saturn Vue

I have the same problem, Noticing that my 2006 Saturn Vue, 5-speed becomes extremely hard to shift gears when the weather is cold. (Temps range from 20-43). Has been colder in the last month. What could this be?

also side note:
Our windshield wiper spray doesn't work on front window but work on back. They both started about the same time when the temps dropped to single digits. Dont know if that had any causes.

Rough, chugging when driving and conking out

Could also be a faulty mass air flow meter, or throttle position sensor. It's hard to tell, you need to take it to a shop to be properly diagnosed.
