I am converting a 1996 hilux surf 3.0 petrol to 1kz turbo diesel engine with an ecu and electonic pump system.

You have a major task in front of you .The wiring and computer are not the same. get the computer and wiring loom from the donor engine vehicle. You will have to rework the exhaust system ,cooling system, transmission and drive shaft, rework the front suspension springs because of extra weight. Do check with the main roads department or other body as they may refuse to register or insure it.

Toyota hilux surf problems

have injectors or glow plugs removed and crank engine if water cones out. your engine might have experienced overheating and you have a blown gasket or a cracked cylinder and allows water into one or more cylinders.

What wrong with my hilux surf ln130 ?

looks to me like you hyralocked the engine.
if you added water to the engine, and it will not turn by hand
you hydralocked it.
got water in to the induction.
do not crank any hyrdalocked engine or you will bend the rods.
stop ,think then act.

my guess, Im no TDI guy, expert but remove all glow plugs.
and get the top combustion chambers open.
then hand crank it, and see water run out of the holes you just made.

it may be too late.

water does not compress, (short of atomic explosions)
if you get water in there, some cars over 50 CC water is the end.
any water exceeding the size of the combustion chamber is doom.

my wilder guess. is you failed to read the FSM? Read first , act 2nd.
and failed to note the difference of hoses.
water, air, and vacuum.?
if you flushed the air or vacuum hoses, that is fast way to destroy
any engine, made . (water cooled)

Dont crank it, do not.

How to bleed the air from the diesel fuel filter

You have to take the filter of and then fill it up with fuel then replace filter without spilling any fuel out to cause more air to get in the line. When you try to crank the car or truck over it may take a few trys but it should start after a few trys.

My toyota hilux surf 1992 auto, 3L 4x4, keeps cutting out when i put it in reverse and drive. sometimes it will go for a couple of minutes then just cut out randomlly. whats wrong with it and how do i fix...

Sounds like the idle is too low. This could be due to a bad vaccuum line or a faulty IAC if this car has fuel injection. IAC = Idle Air Control motor. Check for loose or broken vaccuum lines first. If no vacuum are bad and you can keep the car running by keeping your foot on the gas a little and dies when you let the gas pedal up then I would think the IAC is bad. A poor idle can also be the result of a long overdue tune up.

My 2001 oldsmobile silhouette keeps over heating. i have replaced the water pump and the thermostat. it keeps getting air in the water lines but i can't find a leak. it won't cycle water through the heater...

Hi!

I have and 98 Intrepid 3800 motor, and had same problem.

I tried a few things, but what finally worked was when I took the car for a complete cooling system flush, they opened the radiator and cleaned every single passage line, flushed motor and heater core,

It cost me about $100 but I havent had a problem since. I recommend you do the same.

There is a screw on the thermostat housing that is used to purge the air out of the cooling system. On your owner's manual are detailed instruccions of this procedure.

If helpful, click below. Good Luck

The heat system is broken

Hi,

You haven't said what is actually wrong with the heat system (there can be several different failures). For the time being I'll assume the fan blows plenty of air but the air is always cool/cold regardless of where the heat temperature selector is positioned.

The most common cause on these cars is a plugged heater core. With the engine at normal operating temperature, feel the heater core hoses (under-hood, mid/lower portion of firewall, access from passengers side). They should both be very warm. If not expect blockage in the heater core.

While a replacement heater core along with a good cooling system flush is the ultimate cure, reverse flushing the heater core will restore heat. This can be accomplished with a garden hose. Disconnect both heater core hoses (not with the engine hot as the coolant get very hot!!) and connect a garden hose. Turn on the water supply to flush the core. Flush the core in both directions (by hooking the hose to one side of the heater core and letting the water run, then disconnecting and connecting to other side of the heater core...). An old garden hose with end cut will work fine if your existing hose will not fit over the pipe (plumb it together anyway you can).

The heater core sits rather low in the cooling system. This means crud in the system will settle there eventually causing blockage. If you flush the core the crud will eventually cause blockage again. Reflushing will work over and over again if saving money is the primary goal.

If this is not the problem, the blend air door is probably not working.

Reply and we'll continue. I don't want to repeat things that have already been done, as $2000 should of covered both things I have mentioned.
