SOURCE: rover 216 coupe

The honda engine in the rover suffered from the amplifier module in the distributor going faulty. Remove dist cap ans rotor arm, underneath you will see a small square box with 5 wires onto it, if i remember, its held in with 2 screws. remove this and replace with new .

SOURCE: rover 216 p-reg no spark al all from plug

Hi

Sounds like the ECU ...( Electrical Control Box) under the seat, I had one that did just the same 2 yrs back.

The car breakers is your best bet for another.

Good Luck !

Don´t forget to give a FixYa rating please !

Freelander 1.8 workshop manual

buy your self a haynes manual and a older rover 216 from a scrapyard for the engine K series ,better still if your country laws allow and thats to get hold of the honda engine from a rover or honda the rover with the honda engine and swop it over for the honda engine then it will run forever and a day but the original engine is prone to faults blamable on the head gasket when in fact its a engine with wet liners and the bottom seal goes so everyone who doesnt know how to check the liner height blames the head gasket ,Lot of unskilled mechanics about who are only oil changers in reality who are only too willing to charge you the earth for junk repairs but then iam biased as i always seem to end up putting their work right .

Rover 216 wont start

unlock your car with the key, put the key in the ignition switch, remove one of the battery terminals now switch the ignition to the running position then put the battery terminal back on this will bypass the rovers immobiliser and alarm system

87 Range Rover Classic High-beams are always on when headlights

There is a relay, and fuses. Some realys under lower facia panel driver side UK 87 models, however there were some variations so check under the bonnet too.

This does sound more like a short, if all relays are ok. Check the head light units and work your way back. The wiring in these are not the best in the world, plug at back of head light unit suspect too.

Do your lower driving lights common too, when you have the switch in ? Has some one been messing about with this wiring, runs down by air dam.

Fan stays on when engine switched off

This sound is from the fuel burning heater situated in front of the left front wheel arch. It'staying on because the relay is sticking and forcing the system to work.Repair this by replacing the heater relay found solo next to the engine compartment fuse box.
