Open Question

My truck won't start when parked on a uphill slant but will start if you are parked on a down hill slant

My driveway is a uphill slant so i back it in and it will start but when its parked the other way you have to give it gas

change the fuel filter, check the fuse for the sending unit and the fuel pump relay and if all these test good it maybe the pump getting weak

In most cases it is the fuel filter. I don't know when it was changed before, but it should be changed at least every 8-10 k miles. Make sure you change the air filter too.

replace fuse and relay.also check oil pressure switch.it controls fuel pump also. check fuel pump wires and fuel injector fuse .if all is good pcm could be faulty it controls fuel pump on .command circuit

po300 random misfire it needs a tune up..plugs and wires, air and fuel filter........po452 fuel pressure sensor or the fuel level sensor..The fuel pressure sensor is located on top of the fuel pump module.Hope this help...pls rate

Pretty sure I have the diagrams etc but they are buried away and would take a week to find.
BUT: The setup on that engine for that year is fairly uncomplicated and you could pretty much do away with all the emission controls etc and get the engine running really well. (just block off all vacuum ports on the manifold and carb except for the one to the transmission and power brake booster) I'm not really familiar with the edelbrock carb (looks like they are based on the old carter AFB carb though. I am partial to holley carbs, and the old quadrajet carbs)
What you need to check first though is your fuel pressure and delivery. You should be seeing 5-7 psi at the carb. With the fuel line disconnected, and attached to a rubber hose diverted into a container, you should see at least a gallon of fuel pumped at idle before the carb runs out of fuel. Make sure you don't have any leaks in the fuel line coming from the tank...with a pull type pump (mechanical pump on the engine) a leak often will not drip, but will allow air to be drawn into the line while running. Make sure that if your carb has a filter in the fuel inlet, it is clean. Make sure that the fuel line filter (sock) in the tank is also clean.
It's likely you have an egr valve on the manifold, If so, you can temporarily block it off with a small piece of metal from a soda can installed between the valve and the manifold. That will prevent it from working and if it has any leaks, blocking it off will eliminate it from the system. If that helps, replace the valve.
Your ignition system is fairly simple. a single 12 volt lead goes to the battery side of the distributor. You can block off the vacuum advance temporarily and just set the initial timing at about 8 degrees advanced. (depending upon fuel quality, you can go as high as 12) . The ignition module is not "testable" usually though they either work or they don't )
You do need to check the wires that attach to the pickup under the mount plate to make sure they are not partially broken and grounding when the advance moves the plate.
Back to your carburetor... If you are test driving without the air cleaner housing in place, it is possible that if there is a heat pad mounted to the underside of the hood, it can get drawn down against the carb inlet and cause problems. If the air cleaner housing is in place, make sure that the inlet door in the snorkel is opening or, disconnect the vacuum hose going to it as default on those is wide open. If you have tried everything I've outlined, you may have to go inside the carb and make sure that the power valve isn't frozen or that the float level isn't set too low.
Once you get it running right, you can begin to look for the diagrams etc you are looking for, but at least it will be running and usable.
The only other item that could give you a problem like the one you have is if the cam timing was set incorrectly at the factory (doubtful but it can happen) but I really would not worry about that just yet.

Yes and no.
No if it is still working you probably did not break anything for now.
Yes the damage you did will probably shorten the life of the transmission.
You might want to drain the trans fluid to see if you have any large pieces of metal floating around. I would not change the filter if the trans has never been serviced.

Car won't start on a hill


That is typically indicative of a fuel pump issue. It isn't necessarily the fuel pump itself, but the way it is positioned in the tank when low on fuel can keep it from getting fuel.
If you fill the tank and find however that the problem still exists then the other cause is related to parking.
Your Buick has a safety mechanism that will not allow it to be started if not fully parked, called the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock. Not only does this solenoid controlled component not allow you to shift out of park without applying the brake, you also will not be able to start it if this mechanism is faulty, or something in the gear select linkage prevents the shift selector from properly engaging the parked position. When on a hill and you shift into park, the vehicle weight is rolled against a component of this system, preventing it from properly "registering" the parked gear select position.
What you can do the next time you need to park on a hill is with your brake applied and the gear select in Drive, apply the emergency brake and hold it down, THEN shift into park. Then release your feet from the brakes. This should help.

is the problem you have a auto transmission and you can not pull it out of park? if so have some one push the car up the hill as you are pulling the trans out of park.if that is it be sure to apply the parking brake then put the car into park this will keep the trans from binding. then be sure to put the car into gear before you let the parking brake go.if it is a manuel trans please let us know

Shifter won't come out of park button won't push in


THE SAME THING HAPPENS TO ME WHEN I PARK THE TRUCK UPHILL ON MY DRIVEWAY. WHAT I DO IS HAVE SOME ONE PUSH THE TRUCK FORWARD A LITTLE SO IT UNLOCKS THE TRANSMISSION. MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU PUT THE TRUCK INTO PARK TO PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE THEN PUT IT INTO PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. REVERSE THE PROCEDURE WHEN STARTING. START ENGINE PRESS ON BRAKE TAKE IT OUT OF PARK AND LAST REALESE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE.

Cruise control will not maitain the speed it is set on. going up a hill it gets slower and going down a hill it gets faster


My experience is that cruise control works on level roads, uphill you have to control speed yourself same for downhill. Exception is very powerful cars. Did it maintain speeds before? (uphill + downhill)

if your driveway is slanted and your vehicle is an automatic then there is a very good chance that you will have to jack up the wheels that have power to them...rears....and set your parking brake then lower your vehicle again...then you will be able to shift

I HAVE A 2001 AZTEK AND WHEN ON AN UPHILL INCLINE STOPPED, YOU MUST KEEP FOOT ON BRAKE OR VEHICLE WILL ROLL BACKWARDS


This is normal, depending on the depth of the hill. This is frequent with standard/manual cars on uphills, they can roll back, but with automatic vehicles they usually have a small amount of throttle, (you'll notice this when putting your vehicle from park into drive with your foot off the break, it'll start slowly moving forward)
Now on the hill, if it's a steep incline your car will move backwards, it all depends on how high your throttle (the car itself) is, and the incline depth of the hill.
