Question about 2003 Chevrolet Malibu

1 Answer

My 2003 Chevy Malibu seems to be missing...like I pulled a sparkplug off. It seems to stem from the A/C unit going off and on by itself. I replaced the A/C module inside the car and it is still doing this...what gives...I have heard this is a problem with this car and the AC.

We just had that same problem on our 99 Malibu, and it was the ignition coils. You can take the ignition module and coils down to Auto zone and have them test it for you. Changed two coils and the car purrs like a kitten even with the a/c on. Give that a whirl, good luck.

How do I change the a/c and heater unit switch in my 2003 Chevy Malibu? I posted a similar problem earlier but can't log back into Fixya. Since I posted the problem, I figured out the heating core is fine,...

Your problem could be in the temperature actuator behind the main heater/ac control, or it could be the control itself. GM doesn't sell anything of the control parts separately, you'd have to purchase the whole unit. Both parts fail at about the same rate, so it's a 50/50 shot.

Are there any engine components that need to be removed to replace the 3 rear sparkplugs?

i did replace my plugs, there is a plastic clip on the alternator that holds the wiring on you can pop off to get out of the way to get to the plugs. Use gloves and if you have a spark plug boot puller tool it helps, since they get stuck and are hard to get off, and you can pull the wire out of the boot and will have to replace the whole wire. make sure the right wire goes back on the right plug.
