Had a problem where the car would not start, did nothing. Removed starter and had checked ok. Found the security reset thread and it starts now. Drove it about 20 minutes and car died no power at all. Two month old battery tested bad. Replaced battery. Still have battery light comming on. Removed and had alternator tested ok. What next?

I started it the disconnected the positive from the battery and it died right away, Shouldn't it still run if the alternator was good?

Check for a bad ground on frame or engine. Crawl under and around the engine, any wire attached to the frame or engine for ground should be clean and tight.

All power light come on over dash for a 2005 Cadillac SRX, but won't come on. What is wrong?

Marvin, 1st thing if able to do so, is check for good battery, it should be no lower then 12.2 volts to enable vehicle to start. A good charged battery would be 14.4 volts or higher.
If you know battery is OK, I would say that your cars security system has been activated and you will have to follow instructions from your manual to reset security.
Security not the issue check, fuses, starter relay, if found to be OK, starter is defective.

Car wont start

Could be the linkage between the lock cylinder and the switch, or the trick was just a red herring and had nothing to do with the problem.
Will it crank in neutral ? Do you have power at the starter ?

Check the ground connection on the battery and the frame. Make.sure the battery posts are clean and free from corrosion. Most likely it's the ground on the frame

No crank, no start, the battery is good. Yesterday it worked this morning nothing.

even thogh the battery is good the connection to it is suspect. The only way to check is to take it apart and clean it. ( it can look clean and not be ) Ok that's not it and it still does it. With someone trying the key knock on the starter, ( don't beat it to death ) if this helps at all the starter needs rebuilt or replaced. OK no help again, The caqr might start in neutral or even resetting the car in park, might have the switch going bad for that. Theeres a small wire on the starter soliold that needs to be checked for power or just add power and see if it cranks. If it cranks good jumping power to the soliod then maybe even the security key or alarm system isn't reconizing the key as a good on and it's not starting cause it ( thinks ) it's being stolen, Do you have more than one key? if you do try it as if one key works better than the other there's a possibly bad key.. Check the car with a scanner codes for the security system may need to be reset. Other engine control problems may show up and need to be delt with.

Car dosnt start. i tried to jump it and nothing i got a crank no strt though

let it sit and charge off of the other cars battery for about 10 minutes. then try to start it. If you dont get anything at all, you could have a bad starter. Check the connections that go to the starter and make sure they are all good and tight. If it starts after the 10 minutes but dies when the jumper cables are removed then you likely have a bad alternator.

Not starting

It was the security Passlock system on my car as well. I did't notice that the security light had come on the first time. Look up Passlock in the owners manual.
  1. You can reset it yourself for free by turning the key to accessory position
  2. Leave for ten minutes on accessory mode.
  3. Turn car off completely
  4. Try to restart.
This fixed my problem on my own after I paid to have it fixed and it happened again the next day.
