Shift B solenoid faulty. If replacing one then I suggest replacing shift A solenoid as well. They're located in the lower vavle body of tranny. Hope this helped.

Why is my deville running 2900 rpms when running at a speed of 70 mph?

run the fault codes to check for OD operation and TCM problems . IT could be a VSS sensor as well but this should show up in the codes.

What could cause my 2000 cadillac deville to run 2600rpm at 65mph...no error lights on/or codes

You may have a torque converter not locking. At low engine load conditions at hwy speeds to save gas the engine computer will tell the trans to lock the converter which results in lower rpm. Either the TCC solenoid is not locking the converter, or the PCM has failed and not sending signal to the TCC solenoid. If this has been going on over a week, im willing to bet the PCM has failed, otherwise a good one should catch the TCC if its not working and should throw a code.

Its my best guess with no tools to know for sure. Good luck :)

Engine sounds like it is screaming RPM's and sounds like it needs to shift down but stays reved up

Can you count the number of shifts ?
2nd speed at 10 - 3rd speed at 20 - lockup and overdrive at 40 ?
Normal RPM for most cars is around 2000 at 60mph.

How to fix code e98 1991 deville

Probably two different issues.

The code is saying the computer sees the engine RPM is too high when shifting between park neutral and drive.
The rough idle would be something else.

My 2000 cadillac deville will not shift into overdrive. throws no codes. what could be wrong? thanks for your time.

Is it not shifting into overdrive or is the (TCC) torque convertor clutch not coming on? If it is and O/D concern it could be a cracked shift solenoid, this will not set a code because the PCM only monitors electrical failures with solenoids. If it is a TCC concern the PCM should set a code related to a comparison between vehicle speed and engine RPM. Should. You need to have somebody access the on-board diagnostic program to diagnose the problem.

RPM's running alittle high at 60mph

ram1105: when you shift out of overdrive the transmission actually is in a 1-1 ratio with the input shaft of the transmission. Meaning for every revolution of the input shaft, the driveshaft turns the same number. When you shift to overdrive, the ratio changes allowing the engine speed and input shaft speed to slow down while the number of RPM's increases on the driveshaft shaft. The change is not too significant. Usually about a 500 RPM change is normal. You may have a problem with slippage within the transmission overdrive unit.
It may be advantageous to have the transmission pan dropped and it's contents inspected for debris. Older Nissan Automatics were not known for failures. The 3N71B was bullet proof and the 4N series which was just an overdrive added to it, were very reliable.
My son, best friend and I road race Nissan 300Z's. There are a variety of gear ratios for the R200 differential. The 3:70 is the tallest factory setup on a production Z, which would give you the lowest RPM at a higher speed. Outside of that, the tallest tires you can run on the car will also lower the RPM's.Don't forget there is always a trade-off. When you make a gear and change to taller gears, the car is going to feel more sluggish off the line. It will take longer to attain 0-60 unless you increase HP & Torque. I can help you there if you want to know how to do it.

Do you remember by chance speed vs RPM before & after work done? for example : before was 2000 RPM @ 60 MPH. Now 2200 RPM @ 60MPH ? May be coincidence, and transmission not shifting to overdrive or high gear.

2002 Grand Cherokee engine revs

Since you have a Laredo this should be where it is going in and out of overdrive. The reason is because 60mph is right at the end of the power range before going into overdrive. The other reason on your idle fluctuation is due to the cooling fan kicking on and off. Higher RPM's occur as the engine is trying to cool back down after reaching optimal temp. I due have a partial solution if you want better performance out of your jeep and will help MPG. You can replace the spark plugs and air filter for both mpg and performance. Local auto store should be able to recommend platnium or iridium plugs for your jeep. But K and N is the best air filter to replace it with. It will cost around 50 dollars but it has a lifetime warranty and is cleanable. If you decide on new plugs make sure to spend a few extra bucks and get some with a 3 to 5 year warranty. Just replace them before the warranty is up. Stephen
