  • could be TCM, transmission control module or ECM, engine control module. Depends on how the car is running. Check with a certified mechanic to make sure because these components can be EXPENSIVE!

Check engine light code p1698

A p1698 means the pcm is not recieving a bus message from the tcm. The vehicle bus is one wire that runs to each module as there means of communication. Could be a broken wire, bad connection, or possibly a bad module. Unless your pretty sure about what your doing and have some good wiring diagrams you should probably take it to your dealer.

Engine check light

It means that it didn't receive a signal from the transmision module.
Have your transmission control module checked.

To reset your engine codes:
Remove the negative terminal of your battery (10mm wrench).
Turn your ignition key to START and hold it there for about 15 seconds.
Turn your ignition key to OFF and remove it.
Connect the negative terminal of your battery.
